Why Entrepreneurs Give Up

Why Do Entrepreneurs Give Up?

Entrepreneurs – A word so many use just because they set up their own business. I personally do not believe an entrepreneur is someone who owns a business, it’s someone who is making a difference and succeeding with their business on some level. Anyone can be a business owner, not everyone can be an entrepreneur. True entreprenuers are a special breed.

What reasons do entrepreneurs give up?

successful-women  There are many reasons why people decide to set up on their own. They have a dream and a vision of the life they want to lead and the people they want to help. However, being an entrepreneur is HARD WORK! Not everyone has it in them to stay the course and that’s when people start giving up. In my experience is they give up 6-12 months in. That’s so early in the game, but they don’t know that.

I have been reading Gary V’s recent book ‘Crushing It’ and I just finished up reading a chapter that was about people giving up on their entrepreneurial journey. Here are some the reasons he says he has found people give up (I bet some of you can relate to them too) The entrepreneurs in Gary’s book are super inspirational. Buy the book, you won’t regret it.

Excuses Excuses…

  • I don’t have the money
  • I don’t have the time
  • My family is holding me back
  • I have an idea for an app but I don’t know how to code
  • I have a full-time job
  • I’ve got kids (seriously, don’t we all)
  • My parents don’t get it (it’s true, my parents generation don’t, but that doesn’t stop some of us)
  • I don’t have the right equipement
  • Only a few people are reading what I have to say
  • I’m too old

Blah Blah Blah….. Excuses are excuses – end of discussion. I built my first business with 2 babies under 2, in a marriage that I was unhappy in and only his income coming in. I worked till midnight most nights and when the children napped. It was all a blaze of tiredness and mayhem. Somehow in the midst of all this, I still cleaned the house and cooked a meal every day. That is all a blur – I don’t know how I did it. I’m not saying you have to keep on top of it all, it was just something that was important to me and helped me feel in control.

Then I left the husband. I still worked all the hours, put the children in part time nursery and grew the hell out of my business! I didn’t use excuses that I was a single mum who got NO help from family. Basically I cracked on and didn’t let the world beat me down. SHIT GOT DONE! This picture below is when I was tired beyond belief, but I carried on.

Conclusion… entrepreneurs successful women

Here’s how I’m going to end this blog post. You will either give up OR you put the hours in and work your butt off. Ask for help when you need it, read all the books and don’t find excuses not to succeed.

Your WHY should be strong enough to keep you going. My why was that I wanted to be mum who would do the school runs, who could attend assemblies, sports days and all the other millions of school activities these schools put on on a regular basis. I wanted to be able to cook my children a proper meal every night and not rely on fast food regularly. THAT was important to me.

Don’t get me wrong, once a week we have pizza and sit down early to hang out and watch something together. Because spending time with them is important. My children are now 9 and 8 and it’s easier as a single mum now. They don’t need me constantly. I am still growing my business and have evolved into different areas now.

You can have this too.

Lady Boss, Girl Boss, Call it What You Like

Lady Boss

Lady boss, girl boss, call it what you want, women who own their own businesses rock and then the mums out there opening up their own businesses to be able to be at home for their children is simply amazing! Yep, i am one of those amazing women and Yes, i will blow my own trumpet. I am a single mum and built my first business with 2 babies in tow, not only that, i built is to turn over 5 figures a month! Oh… and as a single mum too. So yeah, i’m pretty proud of myself.

So what exactly is a lady boss?

Ok, not many women like the terms girl boss, lady boss or mumpreneur (momprenuer if you’re reading from the USA) But i personally don’t see the problem. I don’t see any of these as a negative label, so what’s the big deal?!

A lady boss is a female entrepreneur or freelancer who works her arse off on her own terms, She works from home or rents an office space, she works her own hours. Hurdles don’t keep her down, in fact, you might go as far as to say they only make her stronger. She’ll bounce right over a hurdle and carry on. She falls, but never stays down for long, if at all.

Most of us lady bosses don’t have a safety net, but that won’t stop us. lady boss

We don’t ask for permission and we don’t dwell on what others think or think we have to conform to society or the mums in the play ground (and they can be real bitches i tell ya!)

A lady bosses mindset

A lady boss defines her own destiny and we build our own empire bad on our terms, our beliefs and desires. We create our own luck, we don’t sit and wait for it to fall into our laps. One thing we don’t do is whine about every little thing, we just get on with it. We are the ultimate DO’ERS.

I’m proud to be strong woman, bringing up her kids on her own terms and working the hours I want and not hours or tasks that someone else sets me. I respect myself, my business and other peoples businesses.

Be proud to be a lady boss and keep on killin’ it!
