Building Relationships on Social Media

Building Relationships on Social Media

Building relationships on social media – if you’re not doing, just go home! Seriously, if all you’re doing is posting product post after product post, then you’re wasting your time. You’re not using social media how you should be and if you’re not using it correctly, then you need to read this post.

Recently i finished a contract working with a transgender page. They needed help reaching a wider audience and reaching more male to female transgenders. Their goal was to spread their message of support far and wide and provide make up tips and motivational posts to inspire others. building relationships on social media

What my contract involved

I was contracted to write some original content for their Facebook page and post 3 times a day for them And engage with their audience when they had questions or they simply commented on a post. I also designed some graphics for them. The page had original content and it was looking great. It took people time to start engaging, why? It’s simple, the page was getting used to having more content and the audience weren’t used to seeing posts they could engage with. I only posted ONE sales post out of the 3 posts a day. The rest of the posts through the week were inspirational, motivational, hints and tips etc.

Here’s what worked

An example: At Halloween i’d post a silly meme with ‘pick the first letter of your name and the month you were born, what’s your witch name’ type of post. The results were outstanding. People loved the fun post and enjoyed getting involved. In addition I replied to every single comment and people enjoyed the personal touch. As a result, people started getting more involved with posts. They were not ignored. That is building relationships on social media right there. It works. You’ll notice my FB page doesn’t do much for this business, simply because i concentrate on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram, as that’s where my audience is. How can you start building relationships on social media?

First of all, stop making excuses as to why you can’t post. Secondly, stop constantly selling your products. Let me tell you now, it’s BORING!!! NOBODY in this day and age on social media wants to see it or read it. It just doesn’t work like that anymore and you can’t expect to be successful (let alone pay your mortgage) if that’s all you do on social media day in, day out.

Go and look at popular pages that sell what you sell and see how they’re doing it. Are they posting fun posts? Are they posting tips? Or Are they posting snippets from their blog posts?

YOU have to take notice of what they’re doing. You are losing money every day that you don’t do your homework.

Building relationships on social media is the only way to do business on social media these days and if you’re not doing it, you have no place being on social media. Simples.

Time Management in Business

Time Management in Business

Time management is so important in everything you do, not just in business. Do you need to manage your time better and be more productive? Time management is crucial when running a business. It is something that will run away from you and you’ll struggle to play catch up. Trust me, i know this all too well. As i sit and write this, i have both kids in holiday club and i made a list of everything i needed to get done today. During the summer with both kids at home, running a business is far from easy. Also with clubs being so expensive, they only go in once a week at most. I often lag behind and struggle to complete tasks.

How i managed my time today:

How does your time management look?

Here is what my lists usually look like. And they don’t consist of me checking my email every 10 minutes and sitting on Facebook all day (sorry to say)

  • Design 10 graphics for a clients twitter account
  • Check email (once)
  • Write blog for client
  • Write my own blog (this one)
  • Schedule clients Facebook posts for the next 3 days
  • Create graphics for my business
  • Schedule my one posts for the next 3 days (yet to be done)

You get the picture right? I enjoy ticking off my tasks and seeing them completed. I’m old fashioned and like a paper and pen diary. I put everything in there that needs to get done and it pretty much always gets done when i schedule my time.

Time Management and Blocking Time Slots

This is another thing i do, i block time for each client and my business. So today i worked on one clients graphics and scheduled for their Facebook page, i wrote this blog and one other, i am yet to check emails and i have dealt with a bunch of queries for a client. I time blocked all this and i have got a ton of stuff done. The kids are back at school after being off for 7 weeks over summer, so i finally have a lot more hours in my week, so time management is far easier.

If time management is a struggle for you or you are so busy that you are now in a position to out source, let me see if i can help. You’ll find many of the services i offer Here.
