Building Your Social Media Profiles For Beginners

How To Build Your Social Media Profiles

Your social media profiles are where people are watching you. They may land on your website first, but most commonly these days, people will go and check out your social media profiles. They’ll want to see what people are saying about you and what you are posting. So here’s a question for you: How do your social media profiles look? build your social media profiles

What You Can Do To Improve My Social Media Profiles

If you’re looking to improve or make changes to your social media profiles, here are a few tips to get you started.

  • Ensure you have the same colours for your branding across all your social media profiles.
  • Also ensure all your bios across your platforms have the same description.
  • Post DAILY!
  • Post not just daily, but post RELATIVE content daily.
  • Research your competitors and see what they’re doing. Don’t steal their work, but re-work it to make it fit in with your business and message.
  • Reply to peoples comments, make them feel valued.
  • Remember the 80/20 rule. 80% of your content should be NON salesy. It could be a survey/poll, a motivational/inspirational quote, a coffee/good morning message. Anything that Relates to your ideal client. The 20% should be product/service based content and links to blog posts. You can also include posts like ‘Do you prefer the black one or the red one’ type posts. This is a non direct way of selling. Try it, it really works. Oh… and try forget to have fun with it.

These tips are for those that don’t really know social media or those that simply want to try and be more consistent on their social media profiles and want to make more of an effort in growing and nurturing their social media.

Give your social media some TLC and eventually it will start paying you back. It takes time though, lots of love and care and I can’t stress enough – lots of CONSISTENCY. You’ve got this, keep at it.

Reading books relevant to your field will help your brain create new content too. Give that a try. I have endless books on my shelves that still need reading. I probably need to make me time for that if anything!!

Instagram Challenge – FREE

I just started running a Free Instagram Challenge over in my Facebook Group.

I wanted to help more businesses get more consistent with posting on their social media and get more comfortable with it. Instagram can be a fabulous place to build new relationships and get more eyes on your products or services.

Instagram is a very visual platform, so your images on there will need to stand out.

When is the best time to post on Instagram?

There isn’t a best time really, it depends on your audience and what times you think they’re most likely to be hanging out on Instagram. For me, it’s during school hours when mums are busy working on their business and then again in the evenings when the children are in bed. But I also post at other times, to catch other audiences.

As long as you are posting on Instagram consistently, then you’ll start attracting new people.

Do hashtags really make a difference?

Errrrrm YEAH! If you’re not using hashtags in every single post, then you’re missing out on your posts showing up in peoples feeds.

You will want to vary your hashtags and use them daily. I generally spend a bit of time every couple of weeks (or so) doing a little hashtag research. I will show people how to do this in my Facebook Group where the Free Instagram Challenge is taking place. It’s really pretty simple. You can join the group HERE.

How do I help businesses with their social media?

I probably don’t advertise enough, i am generally posting tips for other businesses to make use of. So here is a little information on how i help businesses grow on social media.

I provide various services, anything from a social media review at just £49, to content packages for your chosen social media platforms right through to running your social media. I also provide a blogging service.

Every business has a different budget and I try and accommodate their budget. As with anything, you get what you pay for. If you pay me a review, that’s what you get – a review. You won’t get a marketing calendar for that.

If you pay me hundreds of pounds, i will make sure your social media is consistent, spot on, marketed to your target audience and answer all comments and queries.

If you’d like to work with me, add me on Linkedin Here and then message me once I accept our request.

Just yesterday I had some Linkedln success that I just have to share with you. I’ve always has success with other platforms, but didn’t put much effort into Linkedln. So I did my homework, paid for a course and 2 weeks ago I started putting some effort in.

Of course I got ‘sold at’ a couple of times, i just ignored those messages. But I have also had some warm leads land directly in my inbox WITHOUT me having to do a thing! linkedln success

How did i get this Linkedln Success?

Almost every day I reached out and connected with people in the industries i’d like to potentially work with. Most accepted and boy have I grown my list by 100’s in just 2 weeks.

I admit, I have sat there thinking several times that my posts weren’t getting much traction. Then BOOM baby, people started messaging me! They had never engaged in my posts, but liked what i was doing. I had a chat with someone on Monday about what I could do for his business. I had planned on following up with him towards the end of the week. He rang Me yesterday and said he’d like to go ahead – just like that. He even paid his invoice within half an hour – a dream client right? I was of course buzzing.

Do you think you could have some Linkedln success if you put some time and effort in? Or maybe you could outsource it to me and let me do it for you? You too can have Linkedln Success.

What I Can Do For Your Linkedln

With the client I just signed, here is what I will be doing to help him grow his network.

  • I’m going to completely re-write his headline and summary, not only to make it more appealing, but so that he starts showing up in the Linkedln search engine too.

Building Relationships on Social Media

Building Relationships on Social Media

Building relationships on social media – if you’re not doing, just go home! Seriously, if all you’re doing is posting product post after product post, then you’re wasting your time. You’re not using social media how you should be and if you’re not using it correctly, then you need to read this post.

Recently i finished a contract working with a transgender page. They needed help reaching a wider audience and reaching more male to female transgenders. Their goal was to spread their message of support far and wide and provide make up tips and motivational posts to inspire others. building relationships on social media

What my contract involved

I was contracted to write some original content for their Facebook page and post 3 times a day for them And engage with their audience when they had questions or they simply commented on a post. I also designed some graphics for them. The page had original content and it was looking great. It took people time to start engaging, why? It’s simple, the page was getting used to having more content and the audience weren’t used to seeing posts they could engage with. I only posted ONE sales post out of the 3 posts a day. The rest of the posts through the week were inspirational, motivational, hints and tips etc.

Here’s what worked

An example: At Halloween i’d post a silly meme with ‘pick the first letter of your name and the month you were born, what’s your witch name’ type of post. The results were outstanding. People loved the fun post and enjoyed getting involved. In addition I replied to every single comment and people enjoyed the personal touch. As a result, people started getting more involved with posts. They were not ignored. That is building relationships on social media right there. It works. You’ll notice my FB page doesn’t do much for this business, simply because i concentrate on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram, as that’s where my audience is. How can you start building relationships on social media?

First of all, stop making excuses as to why you can’t post. Secondly, stop constantly selling your products. Let me tell you now, it’s BORING!!! NOBODY in this day and age on social media wants to see it or read it. It just doesn’t work like that anymore and you can’t expect to be successful (let alone pay your mortgage) if that’s all you do on social media day in, day out.

Go and look at popular pages that sell what you sell and see how they’re doing it. Are they posting fun posts? Are they posting tips? Or Are they posting snippets from their blog posts?

YOU have to take notice of what they’re doing. You are losing money every day that you don’t do your homework.

Building relationships on social media is the only way to do business on social media these days and if you’re not doing it, you have no place being on social media. Simples.

After Christmas Sales, the sales many businesses rely on to end the year stronger and start the new year on a good footing. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to make as much money as you can before and after Christmas. You’re in business to make money correct?

After Christmas Sales Strategy

After Christmas sales should be an important part of your marketing strategy. Don’t just wing it, put together a plan as to how you’re going to achieve the best sales.

I’m hoping you’re taking Christmas off to enjoy with your family? I now i certainly am. Just me and my 2 children this year, all day in PJ’s, eating what we want and i might have a glass or two of wine too. You don’t have to take the whole week off, but at least have a day or two with your family and be present.

I have been planning clients Christmas sales already and it’s coming together nicely. Having a strategy in place is key. Don’t ‘make the best of it’ or ‘fudge it’ Sit down and plan.

  • What discount will you be offering?
  • When will it start?
  • When will it end?
  • How many emails will you send to your list?
  • Do you have a marketing budget?

These simple things will not only get you prepared, but they’ll be making you money whilst you go out and enjoy the after christmas sales yourself. Win Win! I’m personally going to be on the look out for new light fittings, boring maybe, but the house will look pretty.

Let me know in the comments what you’d like to offer and how are you going to break down your goal?

Breaking down your goal

Your goal is to turn over £1000 over the christmas sale period? Great! But how are you going to break down your goal and make them into actionable steps? The steps i pointed out earlier will help you there and get you on the right footing.

Now go and make some plans and make some money after Christmas.

Increase Sales with these 4 Magic Words

Increase Sales with these 4 Magic Words

Increase sales with a little writing help and you’re good to go. You’ll want to weave these words into not only your website, but social media posts too to increase sales. This isn’t a blog about SEO, it’s to help you sell online and these are words that your customers look out for.

Four words have been defined by recent studies in behavioral economics, psychology and neuroeconomics to appeal to consumers primal instinct. These words powerfully engage consumers at a subconscious level and increase retailers chances of making a sale. Use them as your secret weapon on social media and your website.

Inject these 4 words into your marketing copy and ecommerce product descriptions to increase sales:

YOU: Apparently this is the most powerful word in the English dictionary. For most marketers, It’s more influential than words like ‘money’ and ‘sex.’ (Nuts right)  Your customers want to feel like you’re talking to them directly and the word ‘you’ does that better than any other word. So don’t use ‘hey everyone, how was your weekend’ try, ‘Hello you, how was your weekend’ Using words like ‘everyone’ is too general and far from personal.
The world is full of egocentric people and we liked to be made special. You might feel that you’re not, but there’s a little bit of it in all of us.

NEW:When you see the word ‘new’ you subconsciously think improved, exciting, and I want. According to several behavioral psychology studies, new products, novel solutions, and a sense of adventure draw shoppers to products with the ‘new’ label.

Take a look at how Apple describes the iPhone 8’s design. It’s a new design, with new technology, for their new iPhone. Seems excessive when pointed out but it works.

Your last 2 trigger words to increase sales:

FREE:

The word ‘free’ isn’t just a price – it’s a powerful emotional trigger and a source of irrational excitement. You know that feeling you get at a buffet, where you’re full but you keep eating because it’s free? Or perhaps all those free pens you took at the trade show that you won’t use but you took them anyways? Powerful stuff that word ‘free’ is.
Nobody knows the power of using the word ‘free’ like Amazon. In 1999, Amazon began offering free shipping on orders of $99 or more. Since then they have been experimenting with and perfecting their marketing strategy (and copywriting) to best take advantage of our desire for ‘free.’ I know I’m guilty of buying another book (cost $10+) just to save $3.95 on shipping.
Guarantee: It’s simple, people want the guarantee. They want to know that if they’re spending £100 on something, they want a guarantee. If that if it doesn’t fit or work like they hoped it would, that they can send it back.
The word ‘guarantee’ is a key component of most good ecommerce marketing copy.
‘Guaranteed’ appeals to consumers emotional triggers like security and trust. It’s a safety net – a promise made by a retailer to a consumer that they will be satisfied with their purchase.
Studies in behavioral economics show that humans are intrinsically afraid of loss. When you purchase something there is the chance of disliking the item for one reason or another. Guaranteeing their purchase diminishes the possibility of loss. If they don’t like the item, they can return it.
Ecommerce merchants should inject their copy with ‘guarantee,’ ‘money-back guarantee,’ and variations like ‘or your money back’ on their product page.
How can you and your company work these words into your copy? This is definitely something every business should consider.

Posting On Social Media

Posting On Social Media

Posting on social media, but how often? There are likely 1000’s of blog posts and articles written on this very subject. Is this one correct? All i will say is that it has worked for me and my clients.

What should i be posting on social media?

Posting on social media can be a bit of a mine field, but getting this right, can mean a lot more eyes on your business and therefore a lot more sales.

Here are some great examples of what I recommend posting on social media:

  • Call it the 80/20 rule or one in seven rule: This rule is where only one of every seven posts overtly promotes your business. The remaining six should be focused on sharing valuable content, including posts from the community. This doesn’t mean you can’t promote your business in those other posts; just be sure you pair it with great content.
  • Ask conversation-starter questions: In other words, posts that get people to answer a question. Most people enjoy sharing their opinions, so ask Facebook fans to weigh in on topics that are relevant to your business and interesting to them. For example, a fitness center may ask fans to vote on their favorite summer sports in order to be entered into a drawing to win private lessons for them and a friend who joins the club. The questions should engage fans and inspire them to refer business while giving the business owner great insight. People like to talk about themselves… simple!
  • Share your expertise: however, make this fun too! Post little-known, fun facts in the form of questions with a special offer presented to the first person to answer correctly. Infographics work well too.

These 3 small things will only work when you are consistent. Posting 1-2 times a week will do nothing for your business and not show you as having any authority on social media.

Posting on social media doesn’t have to be a chore. Make it fun and make your social media a fun place for people to hang out and don’t forget… Interact! Customer service is everything. Talk to your audience, acknowledge their comments on your social media.
