Social media tasks can be time consuming, but here are 5 ways to make it simpler for you. There are only so many hours in a day and making the most of our time is crucial to growing our businesses, right? Social media platforms can make a huge positive impact on your business, yet many out there struggle with overwhelm from it.

This blog post shares 5 golden nuggets on how to best spend your time using social media for your business.

  1. Which social platforms are you going to use?

    You can’t be on them all, so figure out which social media platforms you want to be on (and find out where your audience is) Some questions to ask yourself are: Which platforms are people engaging with you the most? Where do you get the most visits to your website from?

 

2. Stick to a schedule or time block

Time management is my thing, i am amazing at it and I help clients manage their time better too. Time management is super important to any entrepreneur or freelancer. When you set time aside to manage your social media tasks, a lot gets done! So i regularly time block now and i work less hours because of it. Pick a days and times that you want to set aside for your social media tasks and stick to it.

 

Create a daily to-do list of social media tasks

Lists, lists and more lists. As if you haven’t got enough social media tasks and blogging to be getting on with right? I like lists and i like ticking them off. This week i have set aside Monday, Wednesday and Friday for my social media tasks, for scheduling mine and my clients posts. Then every day i set aside time to do the following:

  • Respond to comments
  • Comment on other peoples posts
  • Network online and engage in communities
  • Like all comments on my social media platforms

Make your time count and ENGAGE a ton!

Allocating time for building relationships SHOULD be part of your time allocated for your social media tasks. Notice above i put Network online and engage in communities? That’s what i’m talking about!

Yes it’s true, it means you actually have to talk to people ūüôā But it’s all online, so it’s super easy and can be done in your own time that suits you. See the word social? That’s why we have to engage.

I pretty much respond to every message, retweet and comment because those people are helping grow my business and getting it exposure. Yes i miss the odd one, we’re only human after all. BUT i do make time to do this, it’s so important.

Use tools to help with your social media tasks!

Ahhhhh tools, aren’t they great? So i keep it simple and use hootsuite to schedule posts. There isn’t enough time in my day (or yours) to be posting live every hour. Not to mention posting when you are sleeping to reach a bigger world wide. Let a scheduling tool do the work for you whilst you’re asleep.

Why i think investing in your business is crucial. Because i have done it myself and once upon a time i tried to do it all myself too.

Social media is a beast and a beast that changes regularly. You need to be on it all the time (7 days a week) and know your shit. If you don’t, that’s when you need professional help and it’s time to invest in your business. I basically fudged it for over two years in my previous business. All I was doing was reading free blog posts, fudging it on Facebook all the time. I had zero strategy. What the hell was strategy after all?

When I finally invested … I think my first mentor cost me … ¬†was ¬£7,000. I shit myself. I’m thinking, “There is no way I’m gonna be able to do this.” I remember putting a lot of it on a credit card. Let me tell you this though, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Within two or three months, I was doubling my income. Within 18 months, I was making five figures a month. I was turning over five figures a month!! I was blown away by what a professional mentor can do for you.

I also got approached a few weeks ago being asked, “Can we swap services?” Now, what this lady had to offer wasn’t anything that I needed, but she wanted my expertise. Now like I said, Facebook isn’t a quick fix. It’s a lot of ¬†strategies and a lot of learning.

I wanted to talk about summer seeing as it is on its way.

What are summer gremlins then?

As I said, summer’s coming and the summer gremlins definitely get most business owners. Now you may think that’s a little bit funny, but it’s true. I for one know what it’s like. You’ve got the kids at home, you’ve got everything going one, you’re trying to work from your home office, and as a result shit’s just not getting done. You’re being bugged all time, you’d rather be sitting outside with a beer or a coffee or whatever. The summer gremlins take hold of most business owners and therefore you stop being proactive. (See, they do exist)
So it’s really during the summer they come out to play, because there’s so many other things that distract you. We come across stumbling blocks in business often, mostly we deal with them and move on. In the summer though, you are more likely, it’s proven, to just say, “Meh, can’t be bothered anymore.” So let me tell you – Don’t be that person!

What do you want to achieve this month?

What I want to ask you is this: What was one thing that you want to concentrate on this month? Which one thing do you want to achieve? Is it that you want to be more consistent of Facebook? Is it that you want to promise to do two lives every week on Facebook? Or maybe it’s that you wanna grow your email list or create your first opt-in? Now for me, it’s to develop properly and complete the first third of my new 12 week coaching programme. I don’t want tell you too much about that, however, what’s coming is going to be amazing. Boring as it may sound, investing in your business is super important… so keep reading! I find most new businesses have no idea where to start with investing within their business and things are all a little (or a lot) jumbled up in their mind.

Just yesterday i listed to someone from Google speak and some other superb speakers and already i know how i am going to help current and new clients. I am not here to convince you to work with me, you either will or you won’t, but i insist at Some point that you do invest in your business, whether it be with me or someone else.

Because let’s face it… we all have stuff around the house we don’t need and can sell. That’s exactly how i got the money together for my first few Facebook Adverts. In turn i started turning over 5 figures a month in my previous retail business and was killing it! Do you want the same?

Repurposing old content is totally allowed on social media, it’s just about being a bit tactical about it and not showing the same posts every day. Creating content for your business and marketing is time consuming, which is why many businesses out source this to the likes of me. Creating content can not only be challenging, but also hugely time consuming and sometimes coming up with new content can seem impossible. Not everyone can create a new graphic in 2 minutes like those of us programmed to do it.

Repurposing old content is still going to attract customers and turn them into leads/clients.

How repurposing old content using social media is huge:

It’s something i do a lot for both myself and for clients and it can bring great results. Who says you can’t post a blog post you did 6 months ago on your social media networks? Who says you can’t use that graphic you created last month? You will constantly have new eyes on your business on your social media platforms, so repurposing old content is getting seen by new people.

Not to mention if you post them at different times of day, different time zones see them. My clients stretch from the UK to the USA, so my posts at 2am, get seem by my USA audience, it’s a Win Win. What is stopping you from doing the same? You’re not up at 2am? Why are you not scheduling posts like every clever entrepreneur is doing? Repurposing old content means i am getting more organic reach too, which means FREE reach. Every business whats free reach and to spend less on marketing. I get that budgets are tight, i was once at the beginning.

  1. Here is one people don’t do often but is still a great way to get eyes on your business: Join forums that are in your niche and help answer peoples queries. You put set yourself as an authority amongst groups this way. Then when the timing is right, they’ll ask for more info and you give them your link.
  2. Post your blogs on social media platforms. Twitter drives a ton of traffic my way. So ensure you’re posting your blog out there on popular social media sites.
  3. Blog commenting: Huh? It’s easy. Find other blogs to comment on and on almost every blog there is an option to add your URL, this creates free traffic.
  4. Write GREAT Blogs! Yes, it’s simple, ensure you have weekly blogs and make them great. Don’t forget to share the old ones too – Repurpose Your Content.
  5. Guest blogging. This isn’t something i do, but would love to start getting into. Find someone who is relevant to your niche and swap blog posts.

Those aren’t so difficult right? You can start implementing these right away and don’t forget, post daily (several times) on your social media platforms. This will drive free traffic to your blog and also show people you know what you’re talking about.
