We all want to grow our businesses and make the right decisions for it, but it can be hard with so much conflicting information out there.   1. Firstly, marketing starts by understanding your customers. Once you understand them, you learn how to best talk to them and where to market to them. That’s how those all important relationships are built.
  2. Understand that marketing is an ongoing process, a daily process that you don’t give up on.
  3. Find where your customers are and then market to them. That’s where number one comes in, you understand your customers, find where they are and then build relationships with them by effectively marketing to them.
  4. Invest in some amazing content. Don’t try and ‘fudge it’ and guess. Speak to someone like me and get help. You could waste years in business doing it wrong. My Content Packages are a hit and go down well.
  5. Lastly keep learning. Learn what’s current, keep up to date and master these marketing tips. Find people in your industry who are on top and see what they’re doing.

So you want more eyeballs on your social media platforms? Here are 5 marketing ideas to start growing your audience:

  1. Schedule your posts to reach a wider audience. Schedule a couple to post out during the middle of the night, to reach other countries, who may have only just put their kids to bed and are ready to sit down and browse through Facebook.
  2. Create different graphic sizes for different platforms. The 2 graphics in this post are sizes for Instagram and twitter. The twitter graphic is far smaller than the Instagram one.
  3. Here is a good one. Review your insights in both Facebook and Twitter and see what works. Grab a coffee and see what performed really well and at what times. Then find/create content based upon that. You have to have a strategy when it comes to your social media, without it you are constantly ‘fudging it’
  4. Vary your posts. Don’t (definitely don’t) just put links to your products or blog. Give helpful hints and tips, post great quotes and don’t forget those posts that are all about engagement. Ask your audience questions, find a funny meme.
  5. Last but not least, make your favourite quotes into graphics. People are visual creatures, they like to see. So create eye catching graphics or get someone to that for you (i of course can do that for you) marketing ideas

Repurposing old content is totally allowed on social media, it’s just about being a bit tactical about it and not showing the same posts every day. Creating content for your business and marketing is time consuming, which is why many businesses out source this to the likes of me. Creating content can not only be challenging, but also hugely time consuming and sometimes coming up with new content can seem impossible. Not everyone can create a new graphic in 2 minutes like those of us programmed to do it.

Repurposing old content is still going to attract customers and turn them into leads/clients.

How repurposing old content using social media is huge:

It’s something i do a lot for both myself and for clients and it can bring great results. Who says you can’t post a blog post you did 6 months ago on your social media networks? Who says you can’t use that graphic you created last month? You will constantly have new eyes on your business on your social media platforms, so repurposing old content is getting seen by new people.

Not to mention if you post them at different times of day, different time zones see them. My clients stretch from the UK to the USA, so my posts at 2am, get seem by my USA audience, it’s a Win Win. What is stopping you from doing the same? You’re not up at 2am? Why are you not scheduling posts like every clever entrepreneur is doing? How to blog and not just throw content out there.

How to blog – do you know how? So i i recently came across a post in a group i belong to on Facebook for people in business and someone was asking for help with blogging. So i reached out of course. But then i started reading all the comments on this post and all the ‘just do it yourself’ and ‘just sit and write’ replies. Seriously, it got me a little upset. Blogging is not just journaling, there are structures that need to be followed, looking at templates that are readable and so much more. Not to mention SEO, tags and headings etc. Learning how to blog is not an overnight thing. Blogging is certainly not typing out an email and just sending it out.

How to blog – the basics.

So i have been blogging for years and i love it. I have blogged from anything in the fashion industry to plastic bags. I currently blog for this company and yes i now know a lot about plastic bags now! But blogging is not just about writing and i had to learn how to blog effectively.

Firstly, i have always used WordPress, it is google friendly and almost every blog i see ranked on Google is a wordpress blog. WordPress provides great plug ins and has some great templates too. Secondly, do a little SEO training, spend time reading up on it or with someone who really knows their stuff. I have had Skype calls with Kristen Wilson, she has been invaluable in helping me in the unknown world of SEO. Oh and learn about heading tags too, they make a difference.

Then you’ll need to learn about tagging your graphics that go into the blog post and how to weave your key words into the post without keyword stacking.

These are truly just the basics on how to blog, there is more to learn. This is why people hire me to blog for them. I enjoy it, i know how to write and most importantly, i know how to blog the Right Way!

  1. Here is one people don’t do often but is still a great way to get eyes on your business: Join forums that are in your niche and help answer peoples queries. You put set yourself as an authority amongst groups this way. Then when the timing is right, they’ll ask for more info and you give them your link.
  2. Post your blogs on social media platforms. Twitter drives a ton of traffic my way. So ensure you’re posting your blog out there on popular social media sites.
  3. Blog commenting: Huh? It’s easy. Find other blogs to comment on and on almost every blog there is an option to add your URL, this creates free traffic.
  4. Write GREAT Blogs! Yes, it’s simple, ensure you have weekly blogs and make them great. Don’t forget to share the old ones too – Repurpose Your Content.
