Lady Boss, Girl Boss, Call it What You Like

Lady Boss

Lady boss, girl boss, call it what you want, women who own their own businesses rock and then the mums out there opening up their own businesses to be able to be at home for their children is simply amazing! Yep, i am one of those amazing women and Yes, i will blow my own trumpet. I am a single mum and built my first business with 2 babies in tow, not only that, i built is to turn over 5 figures a month! Oh… and as a single mum too. So yeah, i’m pretty proud of myself.

So what exactly is a lady boss?

Ok, not many women like the terms girl boss, lady boss or mumpreneur (momprenuer if you’re reading from the USA) But i personally don’t see the problem. I don’t see any of these as a negative label, so what’s the big deal?!

A lady boss is a female entrepreneur or freelancer who works her arse off on her own terms, She works from home or rents an office space, she works her own hours. Hurdles don’t keep her down, in fact, you might go as far as to say they only make her stronger. She’ll bounce right over a hurdle and carry on. She falls, but never stays down for long, if at all.

Most of us lady bosses don’t have a safety net, but that won’t stop us. lady boss

We don’t ask for permission and we don’t dwell on what others think or think we have to conform to society or the mums in the play ground (and they can be real bitches i tell ya!)

A lady bosses mindset

A lady boss defines her own destiny and we build our own empire bad on our terms, our beliefs and desires. We create our own luck, we don’t sit and wait for it to fall into our laps. One thing we don’t do is whine about every little thing, we just get on with it. We are the ultimate DO’ERS.

I’m proud to be strong woman, bringing up her kids on her own terms and working the hours I want and not hours or tasks that someone else sets me. I respect myself, my business and other peoples businesses.

Be proud to be a lady boss and keep on killin’ it!

What’s a Mompreneur?

what is a mompreneur

What’s a Mompreneur?

So what’s a mompreneur then? It’s basically slang for a woman who runs her own business and has small children. At first i thought the word was a bit of a crappy word, but actually, it’s very accurate. I did find it a bit demeaning when i first heard it, but really, it’s just saying you’re a mum And an entrepreneur. If people want to call me a Mompreneur, they can, i take no offence. I was even entered into a competition for Mompreneur of the year when i lived in London. i didn’t win…. but still.

So what’s the difference between an entrepreneur and a mompreneur?

The leap is actually pretty huge! Not to mention the significant commitment involved. Being a mompreneur is no longer just your schedule to consider. But that of your team, your clients, your need to cover the costs on a monthly basis and hopefully walk away with a salary. I don’t think i took a salary for the first two years of being in business. That’s why i now help women cut the corners that waste time and help women with their time management. Because when we get the time management in check, the rest starts falling into place when we also have strategies in place.

Home office advantages.

There are also some great home office advantages. Rather than having to rent office space, us momprenaurs tend to work from a home office (or the dining room table) which i did for 2-3 years.

Consider that with a home office you likely write off a lot of your expenses such a home phone, Internet etc… as part of your in-home office so you aren’t actually incurring new expenses but rather now sharing the load of those expenses between your business and your household. Total bonus right?

With offices outside of the home, you now have a petrol (gas) expense (that you can’t write off) for your commute, you now have rent, utilities, business insurance etc. All significant, all risky until you really have a dependable and steady cash flow.

So really, being called a mompreneur is ok and don’t allow it to make you feel any less important. The fact that you’re a mum and running a business is actually pretty amazing!

Summer Gremlins In Your Business

summer gremlins in business

Summer Gremlins are coming!

Good day!  How are we doing, my lovelies? Today i want to talk about those summer gremlins that are hiding dormant ready to come out and invade! Think i’m nuts? Keep reading…
I wanted to talk about summer seeing as it is on its way.

What are summer gremlins then?

As I said, summer’s coming and the summer gremlins definitely get most business owners. Now you may think that’s a little bit funny, but it’s true. I for one know what it’s like. You’ve got the kids at home, you’ve got everything going one, you’re trying to work from your home office, and as a result shit’s just not getting done. You’re being bugged all time, you’d rather be sitting outside with a beer or a coffee or whatever. The summer gremlins take hold of most business owners and therefore you stop being proactive. (See, they do exist)
So it’s really during the summer they come out to play, because there’s so many other things that distract you. We come across stumbling blocks in business often, mostly we deal with them and move on. In the summer though, you are more likely, it’s proven, to just say, “Meh, can’t be bothered anymore.” So let me tell you – Don’t be that person!

What do you want to achieve this month?

What I want to ask you is this: What was one thing that you want to concentrate on this month? Which one thing do you want to achieve? Is it that you want to be more consistent of Facebook? Is it that you want to promise to do two lives every week on Facebook? Or maybe it’s that you wanna grow your email list or create your first opt-in? What is that one thing that’s really important to you?

What i want to achieve this month.

Now for me, it’s to develop properly and complete the first third of my new 12 week coaching programme. I don’t want tell you too much about that, however, what’s coming is going to be amazing. I ran this by a mentor earlier this week, and she was so excited. She knows a lot of business people and she doesn’t anyone that’s doing this programme, and she’s super excited. Which has made me even more excited! Further more, if nobody else doing it, then you need to be thinking you want to be the first in line for it.

I want you to tell me what ONE thing you want to achieve this month.
