Using Facebook Live

Using Facebook live is just about a must for every business right now. Since this live feature was rolled out to every business page and even to groups, it has grown businesses massively and gotten a ton of organic reach. We all know that Facebook barely gives us any organic reach these days and it is only set to decline i’m afraid.

So here are some Tips on using Facebook live:
  • Be sure your lighting is good, also you don’t want a cluttered back ground.
  • No back ground noise, let your audience hear you clearly.
  • It’s ok if you get a little flustered, don’t let that discourage you. If anything it makes you more ‘real’.
  • Turn your phone onto airplane mode, it avoids any calls coming in whilst you are live.
  • When people ask you questions whilst you’re live, use their name when answering their question, people love to be acknowledged.
  • Play around with different times of using Facebook live and different lengths of times too. Try just a quick intro for 2 minutes and then go for longer next time.
  • Always use a call to action whilst live.
  • Ask  people to follow you when you are live, so that they get a message each time you’re live.

These are just a bunch of basic, but very useful tips for you to start your journey using Facebook live. I know for me, going live is waaaaay out of my comfort zone, but having just done it a few times recently for a client, i have found i am more confident and actually enjoy them. I used to dread it, but now look forward to it.

It’s ok to make a few notes and pop them near your phone, it’s easy to forget your main points once you go live.

Live video is only going to get bigger as time goes on, so expect to see more and more streams appearing on your feed. So go have fun with it and make it part of your marketing strategy.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Starting a Small Business

Starting a Small Business – The Do’s and Don’ts

Starting a small business is daunting and many will make mistakes at the start of this journey (take this from someone who knows and has made these mistakes)

I’ll start with the Dont’s and then we’ll end this blog with all the Do’s that you’ll be able to put into action.

The Dont’s of Starting a Small Business

So you’ve decided to set up a small business, you’ve decided what you want to do and what you want to call it, you may have even set up your Facebook page. But here are some of the things you Don’t want to do when starting your new business.

  • DON’T try and do everything all at once. One thing at a time. A business takes time to build, it’s a journey, not a race.
  • DON’T use any other platform than WordPress for your blog (yes you will have to blog if you want to get more reach and make more money) and use WordPress for your website too.
  • DON’T Listen to all your friends and family giving advice, you don’t have to take their advice. Nod, say thank you, but don’t get bogged down with their ideas. This is Your business, not theirs.
  • DON’T set up on every social media platform and be everywhere all at once, start on 2 platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, grow those and then add in another social platform. Time in business is precious, use it wisely.
  • DON’T take things personally and try not get overwhelmed by other peoples opinions.
  • DON’T sacrifice friendships and relationships for your business, plan your time.

    starting a small business

Starting a Small Business is Exciting.

Ok, here are the DO’S In Starting Up Your Small Business
  • DO have fun, it’s an exciting time, so enjoy it.
  • DO have persistence, there will be bumps in the road, get over them and move on.
  • PROVIDE great customer service right from the beginning, service is everything.
  • DO ask for help if you need it. I didn’t and wished i had. I built my first business with 2 small children and it was exhausting.
  • DO get a fabulous diary and plan the hours in your day. I use Leonie Dawsons planners, they are a firm favourite and are on their way.
  • DO set professional boundaries from the start, don’t let people think you’ll answer their queries on email at 10PM. I made this mistake and i am now very strict on my boundaries. Emails ONLY get answered during business hours and most of all i try not to work too much around the children.

I do wish you every success in your small business. Starting up a small business definitely comes with it’s challenges, but it also comes with great rewards. I will never forget the first corset i sold in my first business or the first client i got in this business. There is nothing quite like the excitement of it.

Finally Good luck in your journey, wishing you lots of success in building your new career.

5 Headline Ideas For Your Business

5 Killer Headline Ideas

Headline ideas for blog posts and newsletters. Let’s nail this. Headlines in business are as important as drinking enough water every day. If your headlines suck, then people won’t be reading your blogs, google won’t be picking up your blog posts, people just won’t be reading your stuff, full stop.

Headline ideas aren’t always easy to come by, especially when your imagination isn’t flowing. Take a look at all the popular magazines out there, they have a specialist team that comes up with their headline ideas, because they want people picking up their magazines and buying them. Why do people buy them? Mostly because the title has grabbed them whilst standing in a queue somewhere.headline ideas

Your headline ideas will come from these:

The Transactional Headline: This headline is making your audience a promise. Here’s an example ~ Give me 60 minutes of your time and i’ll change your way of thinking about food. You’re promising something big there.

The Reason Why Headline: Robert Cialdini research showed that simply adding the word “because” to a request makes it more likely you’ll get what you’re asking for. Use the power of the “reason why” in your headlines. Here is an example ~ 5 Reasons Your Blog Posts Aren’t Getting Read.

The How To Headline: This headline speaks for itself. Here are a couple of examples ~  How To Write Killer Blog Posts. How To Make Your Flowers Grow For Longer. People love these kind of titles, it’s the most used, but be careful not to overload. Notice I used it on this blog post too.

The If Then Headline: These are headlines along the lines of ‘If you can do this, you can do that.’ Example ~ If you can bake a cake, you can decorate one too, here’s how’

Finally, The Probing Question Headline: These can really relate to your audience, examples ~ Don’t you hate it when your cat does this? or Do you wish more people opened your emails?

You will write many a bad headline before you start writing better ones. We all do it, i know i can do better and i know i need to print this blog post off and have it on my wall in my office to remind me! You should do the same. Don’t forget, you can use all these headline ideas for your email list too.

Have an amazing day and you can find me and my services here.

Building your business together and how i can help.

Building your business together and how i can help.

Several years ago it became apparent that i was rather good on social media and found a natural aptitude towards Facebook. So now i help businesses around the world (we currently have clients in the USA and UK) achieve their dreams. I can’t think of anything i’d rather be doing (well maybe a cocktail on a beach somewhere) i do know i can help you achieve that too.
So i trained, i even went to the States and trained with some of the best. If you’re building your business and are struggling with tie management or just find you’re not good at certain things, that’s where i step in.

Why Facebook Likes Are Still Important Today.

Want to know why Facebook Likes Are Even More Important now?

Then let me tell you why. Facebook likes are still so important for several reasons. Let’s paint a picture: Everyone wants to be liked right? I don’t know about you, but my mum used to tell me when i was a kid that being popular wasn’t important and in every day life that might be quite true. But in the Facebook world you want to be popular right? We want fan page likes and people liking the content on our page all the time.

So What Happens When Someone Likes Your Fan Page?

why Facebook likes are still important

Why Facebook Likes Are Still Important

They became a fan ~ Yay! But it’s more than that, they also get to see your content and share it with their friends, which gets more eyes on your posts… For Free! Are you seeing why Facebook likes are still  important? Every Like on Facebook has a purpose and it gets us more exposure.

Back in the day, just about everyone who liked your fan page saw what you posted, it came up in their newsfeed and many people Liked, Shared or Commented. These days it’s not so easy i’m afraid. With tons of fan pages across the world, Facebook has dramatically decreased how often they share your posts on your fans newsfeed, which has had many business owners in a rage.

Facebook Likes Are Still Important, So What Can You Do To Increase Numbers?

So your page is barely getting seen? Page likes and post likes are down? Yeah i hear ya loud and clear! Take a look at your page and see how often you’re posting. Are you posting enough? Daily at least? You MUST be posting daily if you want any kind of reach. Then the other end of the spectrum. Are you posting too much? Posting every hour but people aren’t seeing your posts? Then maybe try decreasing the number you post. Ensure your images are good, the size that works for Facebook (Canva is a great tool for designing images and getting the right size images for each social media platform) Facebook likes are still important in a sensational way and we need to learn how to optimise what we’ve got and get more Likes if we can.

Facebook Pay to Play.

Example Of Boosting Your Posts To Your Fans.

Example Of Boosting Your Posts To Your Fans.

Time for the bad news. If you want Facebook to show your fans more of your page, you may have to pay to play so to speak. Facebook (as any business would) want to make money and want you to pay them for them to show more posts. They want you to pay to Boost your posts and get seen more. I predict that Facebook will expect us all to pay if we want our posts to be shown, or we will end up in Zero newsfeeds.

Tip On Boosted Posts.

If you’re boosting a post, boost to your fans first. They Liked your page for a reason and they are likely either missing your posts or have forgotten that you exist, so by boosting to that audience, you are showing them you are still around. Growing our Facebook likes is still important, but don’t forget about fans who liked your page ages ago.

Good luck in your business and we are here to help with your Social Media and Marketing Needs when the time is right for you.
