5 Marketing Tips

Here are 5 marketing tips that every business large or small should master. We all want to grow our businesses and make the right decisions for it, but it can be hard with so much conflicting information out there. Most businesses hardest part is finding their customers/clients. If it was easy, we’d all be successful right?

What is Marketing?

In a nutshell, as Kotler and Armstrong said: Marketing is the social process by which individuals and organizations obtain what they need and want through creating and exchanging value with others.

The process by which companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers in return.

My 5 Best Marketing Tips

  1. Firstly, marketing starts by understanding your customers. Once you understand them, you learn how to best talk to them and where to market to them. That’s how those all important relationships are built.
  2. Understand that marketing is an ongoing process, a daily process that you don’t give up on.
  3. Find where your customers are and then market to them. That’s where number one comes in, you understand your customers, find where they are and then build relationships with them by effectively marketing to them.
  4. Invest in some amazing content. Don’t try and ‘fudge it’ and guess. Speak to someone like me and get help. You could waste years in business doing it wrong. My Content Packages are a hit and go down well.
  5. Lastly keep learning. Learn what’s current, keep up to date and master these marketing tips. Find people in your industry who are on top and see what they’re doing.

Marketing isn’t easy, it can feel relentless at times, consistency is key and keeping on top of trends is valuable too.

You don’t have to be everywhere, you just have to be where your clients are. Show up and be seen online. If you need help with your content, Contact Me here and let’s talk. My passion is growing businesses and helping them create relationships with their audience.

Where is your audience?

where is your audience

Where is your audience?

Hey there ladies and gents. This is a little bit of a random blog post, usually i know what i am blogging abut the week before. But i want to talk on where is your audience.

I’m just on my sofa, sitting here and working on some client work. I’m just putting together a 12 week training course and right now I’m writing about content. But before we get into content creation, a question that you need to ask yourself is, where is your audience?

What’s your comfort zone platform?

Facebook might be your comfort zone, but is your audience on Facebook. Now, for me, Facebook groups have been really good for this business, and Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter is killing it at the moment. In my previous business, my online retail business selling corsets, Facebook was my zone. Over 175,000 likes, was earning tens of thousands a month from it.
But where is your audience? Are all your business people on Facebook? Are you in the fitness? Here’s a though, are you doing videos on Instagram? Try and change it up a bit. If you’ve been in your business for a year or more and you’re finding that you’re not getting a lot of traction from where you’re spending most of your time, start looking at other places. Start looking at where your audience might be. Start looking at your competitors. What are they doing? Where are they? Start thinking about different ways of approaching how you are putting your content out there.

A little homework for you to discover where is your audience hanging out.

You never know, within a few months, your business could dramatically do a full circle and change around just by making these small changes.
So sit down in a quiet environment for an hour or so. Turn off your Facebook notifications (biggest time waster there) and just have a look at what other people are doing. Write a list of 5-10 successful people in your niche.

A little bit of research goes a massive, massive way. If you are into fitness, look at Beach Body. I’m trying to think of some other names off the top of my head. I’m a bit of a Beach Body girl myself. Did an INSANITY MAX:30 workout today. Jullian Michaels who did the crazy popular 30 day shred years ago, check her out. Maybe you’re a coach? Check out Seth Godin; Dan Meredith, epic guy from the UK, says it how it is, I’ve learnt so much from him. He’s a business coach and is a lot of fun too.

Just go and find the people that are in your niche and find out what they’re doing, then go and find out where your audience is. Massively important, okay? And keep posting consistently. You’re not going to grow overnight. So just take some time. Don’t stress. You’ve got this, okay?

Take care.

5 Marketing Ideas to Ramp Up Your Social Media

5 Marketing Ideas to Ramp Up Your Social Media

Marketing ideas, we all want more of those right? Sometimes our mind draws a bank and you’re left with a head full of empty nothing. So i wanted to give you a few ideas that might get those creative juices flowing. marketing ideas

Easy marketing ideas that anyone can implement.

So you want more eyeballs on your social media platforms? Here are 5 marketing ideas to start growing your audience:

  1. Schedule your posts to reach a wider audience. Schedule a couple to post out during the middle of the night, to reach other countries, who may have only just put their kids to bed and are ready to sit down and browse through Facebook.
  2. Create different graphic sizes for different platforms. The 2 graphics in this post are sizes for Instagram and twitter. The twitter graphic is far smaller than the Instagram one.
  3. Here is a good one. Review your insights in both Facebook and Twitter and see what works. Grab a coffee and see what performed really well and at what times. Then find/create content based upon that. You have to have a strategy when it comes to your social media, without it you are constantly ‘fudging it’
  4. Vary your posts. Don’t (definitely don’t) just put links to your products or blog. Give helpful hints and tips, post great quotes and don’t forget those posts that are all about engagement. Ask your audience questions, find a funny meme.
  5. Last but not least, make your favourite quotes into graphics. People are visual creatures, they like to see. So create eye catching graphics or get someone to that for you (i of course can do that for you) marketing ideas

Recap

I hope these marketing ideas have helped you think of a few new posts you can post to your social media platforms. With social media, you simply need to be a little creative, be consistent and engage with your audience, don’t leave them hanging. Just by making some small changes, you could see a massive increase in what is going on across your social media platforms.

Story Telling in Business

Story Telling in Business

Story telling in business is one of the biggest marketing tips you need to take notice of. Why? Because people like to see real people, like to know who you are and how did you get to where you are. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t need to talk about yourself all day long. Below i am going to give you some tips on how story telling can impact your business and how you can start story telling. Story telling is personal and people like it.

Tips on how to start story telling in your business.

You could start with telling people how your business was born. How did you start doing what you’re doing and Why did you decide to go down the path you’re on. You can do this through a blog post or through a few little posts on social media. BUT a great one is to jump online and do a Facebook Live and get talking to people. People can see your manner, hear your voice and see your face. This goes a long way in building relationships with your audience.

You could even incorporate a couple of stories of people you’ve worked with and how you came to meet. This is a great way to show examples of how you work too. Plus it’s ok to talk about your family every now and then and what you are up to over the weekend.

How can story telling impact my business?

If your competitors aren’t sharing stories, then this can easily set you apart from them and you will be remembered over them in a heart beat. Because you are building those all important relationships and people are starting to like you. Now we all know, people buy from those that they Know, Like and Trust. Yes i know you’ve heard that before, BUT i need it to sink in. It’s a vital part of business. Let people get to know you through story telling and you’ll start seeing a difference in your business.

Story telling earns peoples trust. It’s said that 92% of consumers say they trust earned media, aka personal recommendations, above all other forms of media. Earned media can include word of mouth, customer recommendations/referrals, media mentions, etc. That’s a huge number and if that hasn’t convinced you that story telling in your business is a no brainer, then maybe nothing will.

Social Selling doesn’t have to be hard, just follow this rule.

social selling

Social selling doesn’t have to be a chore.

Social selling, it’s hard right? I get that, truly i do. In busy market places like Facebook and Twitter, we need to be on the ball and on it daily to be winning. Here’s the thing though, these things take time to master and grow, you will not have overnight success on social media. Social media is a place where you interact, build relationships and here’s the secret sauce: People buy from those who they know, like and trust. It’s that simple.

So how do you get better at social selling?

Firstly, you’ll need to be on there daily, several times a day in fact. Then you’ll need to be posting content that people can connect with. Not just selling your stuff, but being a real person. People like to get to know others. This can take quite some time, so get on it Now! One more thing… You need to be yourself! Don’t try and be anyone else. Be authentic at all times, let people get to know the real you. People like to connect with someone, so just be you. You won’t win everyone over and that’s ok. We want to concentrate on the people that we’ll have things in common with.

Business Strategy – Do You Have One?

business strategy

Get your 2017 off to a great start with a business strategy in place.

Business Strategy – Do You Have One?

Business strategy and goals, do you have both or even one of these? I always have both, but find many businesses don’t. They have dreams, but no actual goals to make those dreams actually come true. They also don’t have a business strategy in place to achieve those goals. As a result, these business don’t always last very long. Therefore it’s imperative to get a business strategy on paper right away. I have a strategy for just about everything in my business. That way i know where i am and therefore what is working.

What is a business strategy?

Your business strategy is a summary of how your business plans to achieve its goals. The definition of a business strategy is a long term plan of action designed to achieve a particular goal. Or set of goals or objectives. You’ll be astounded at just how little people strategise in their business and many have no idea where to start. Due to an overcrowded market place, you need to get this part of your business in place.

Building your business strategy tips:
  • Grab that pen and paper or a good planner (my preferred option)
  • Go back on posts on your social media and see what worked and what times of day your posts got the most reach.
  • Go back on your blog posts and see which posts got the most reach and how many people commented or shared your post.
  • Don’t let your ego get in the way, ask the experts for help when you need it.
  • If you’re waiting for perfection, you won’t get anywhere fast. If that blog post is 99% ready, publish it! Stop tweaking it for 3 weeks!
  • Educate yourself on social media, trends, blogging and getting great content.
  • Be passionate about what you do and let your clients/customers see that.
  • You can’t do it all alone. Hire the people to do the bits you can’t or aren’t very good at.
  • Set realistic goals and targets that you can meet (very important)

Firstly these are all tips to help you build a healthy business and a business strategy that can work over and over again. As a result, you’ll work less, but achieve more. Which is the end goal or at least should be! Don’t go into 2017 still feeling like you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t have any goals or are still unsure about what to do. Pick up the phone, call me on 07879 464664 (if you’re in the UK) or email me at anytime info@socialsuccesswithsonya.co.uk from anywhere around the world. Let’s get your business strategy on paper. Market Your Business Without Being Annoying

Market Your Business Without Being Annoying

Market your business without being that annoying person who is trying to sell to you every minute of the day. We all know a few of those people right? Being a great marketer is a life skill every business needs and without it, you’re going to sink and you’ll sink fast.

market your business

Market Your Business Without Being That Annoying Person

I just attended an event last week and i was there to network. Maybe pick up new clients if i could. However, all I did was introduce myself, let people know what i did and left it at that. Those that gave me business cards then got a follow up call from me, to then further discuss what we talked about at the networking event.

Because it really isn’t just about selling, it’s about building a network and building those all important relationships.

Let’s talk about how to market your business without selling to people all day long.

You know how you wouldn’t walk into a room and immediately start telling people to buy your product or service? It’s basically the same across your social media platforms.

So here is what i do when i network or attend events.

  • I come ready with my business cards, but don’t shove them in peoples faces.
  • I know what i am talking about, i have a one liner that quickly and precisely lets people know what i do and i do this confidently. Something along the lines of “Hi my name is Sonya, i help businesses with their social media and marketing needs”
  • As the conversation goes on, i let them know how passionate i am about social media and drop the odd tip.
  • I don’t just talk about myself, i also ask people questions, ask them what they do, do they use social media etc.
How To Network Online Successfully.

Promoting your business online is much the same. You don’t talk about yourself all day long, you encourage and inspire and use the 80/20 rule. What’s the 80/20? You sell or promote yourself only 20% of the time, the rest is giving helpful tips, showing people results, posting a few blog links to help people in a specific area.

There is a ton of content you can use for the 80%, you just have to create it or hire a VA to create it. I see all too often on Twitter that all businesses are doing are retweeting other peoples content and actually have none of their own. That won’t build relationships or credibility. You’re basically flogging a dead horse and should probably go and get a full time job.

So here is what you need to go and do:

Create a bunch of new content for your social media platforms. Write some new blog posts (don’t make them all about you) and follow the 80/20 rule. Market your business this way and watch is change. I wonder if you’ll see different results within a couple of weeks of following this? Let me know.

Content Marketing and Being Consistent.

Content Marketing and Being Consistent.

Content marketing is one thing in business you need to get good at if you want to succeed and make money. What is content? Content is what you’re putting out there for prospective clients to see daily and you want to make sure it’s good content.

Great Marketing is Key! If you’re not being consistent, not only will you not be creating relationships or making money, your audience will literally forget about you. It’s true. Let’s face it, everyone is doing the job i do right? I know 20+ people doing what i do and there are 1000’s more, so i need to make sure i am in my audiences newsfeed daily. I want them to come to me when they need help, not my colleagues.

content marketing

Is your content marketing up to scratch?

So how does my content marketing look?

I schedule at least 8-10 posts per day on Facebook and at least 12 on Twitter, but i ensure to post on Twitter throughout the day too. With twitter moving at such a high speed you have to be showing up regularly. I also engage with my followers several times a day. My graphics are the correct size for either Facebook and Twitter so that they can easily be seen by my audience.

The same goes for my Instagram graphics. They are the correct size for Instagram, the text does Not run off the page. It’s a pet hate of mine. The way i see it, if you’re not good at creating graphics, then let someone else do it for you. OR get good at it. It doesn’t look professional when your images are all over the place and unreadable. Not to mention if they are all the wrong size too.

Content marketing isn’t just about marketing your products or your services, you need to engage with your audience. Ask them how they are today, tell them good morning and good night. Maybe ask them how they take their coffee? It’s about creating relationships first, if you only remember two things about this blog post. It’s about creating relationships and being consistent.

What Can You Do?

Don’t just throw content out there for the sake of it, take time to create content, study your audience and if you have no idea what you’re doing, then please let me help. My content packages are popular. See them Here and see which one fits your business needs.
