Successful People and their Habits

Successful People and their Habits

Successful people generally have daily habits that contribute to their success. It’s easy to be jealous of successful people and their achievements. However, they have worked very hard to get to where they are.

There are certain things that many outrageously successful people tend to have in common – and these things have nothing to do with luck. They are habits that have helped them to success.

In fact, these habits are things you can replicate in your own life, giving YOU the best chance of success in life and business.

Here are some of the habits that successful people follow regularly, if not daily.

  • They get up early – Now don’t be put off by this. However, how often do you see successful people getting out of bed at 11am? Not many. Sure, there are exceptions, but as a rule, you’ll find many are up early and starting their day as they mean to go on. Try it.
  • Meditation or Prayer – This is not something i do regularly, but i know 100% it works. I know a bunch of successful people and they do one or the other, sometimes even both! I find my brain can’t switch off for long enough to meditate.
  • They exercise! – This is so important for mind AND body. This is something i do regularly, 3 times a week. We just got a dog on Sunday and i am Loving all the walking. I feel energised and ready to crack on with the rest of my day.
  • They set goals – Tony Robbins says, “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” Set clear and consider goals and refer back to them regularly. I do love setting goals and stocking to them.

A few more successful habits:

  • They network – successful people get out there and network online and offline. They get their name out there and are consistent about it.
  • Consistent – YEP, it’s true (shocker), successful people are consistent and they have a daily schedule. they write out what they need to achieve that day and get it done. Successful people certainly don’t make excuses.
  • They set boundaries: Successful people aren’t afraid to say no. They set boundaries and are strict with them. I set boundaries in my business world 4-5 years ago and i have never looked back.
  • They read – They read a lot, stay up to date and own many many business books. Novels help with storytelling too. This post Here will tell you more about storytelling and being human in business.

Which habits do you think you could start making?

Which habits from the list above could you start adding to your daily routine? There are more you can add, like positive self talk, helping others, giving back etc. Also learning from mistakes rather than beating yourself up over ‘failures’. They’re not failures if you learn from them.

Let me know which ones you could start doing today.

Being Human in Business

Being Human in Business

Being human in business is a given if you know what you’re doing. However, there are many out there who have no clue, they’re still advertising like it was 10 years ago OR all they’re doing is selling their products and boring the hell out of everyone. Is that you? I hope not!

How to be human in business

It’s easy really, just be yourself. Be the person your friends and family see, let your audience see a real person behind the business. There is no more B2B or B2C anymore, it’s B2H (business to human).

Social media is packed full of businesses now, so it’s become harder and harder to get in front of your audience, never mind stay in front of them. It’s time to stand out and jazz things up. Ready?

Tips on how to be human in business

  • Show a behind the scenes picture. It could be what you’re working on or even your office space.
  • How about a Facebook Live? These can be real game changers and it’s a great way to build report with your audience. Make a list of things you could talk about, then just go for it. Don’t worry if you make mistakes, it just makes you more human!
  • Reply to every comment on your social media platforms. Don’t just ‘Like’ it, actually converse.
  • Post relatable content to your audience that has nothing to do with what you sell. Example: If your audience is predominantly mothers, post a coffee post that says’ i will mostly be living on coffee today – the baby didn’t sleep a wink’. You get the picture. There a ton of ideas out there.

If you are stuck for ideas, Contact Me, i will gladly generate some content for your social media platforms that will start to get you noticed more. This is great for those busy entrepreneurs too.

Let’s make 2018 an amazing year for our businesses and start doing things different;y. Are you in?

Networking For Your Business

Networking For Your Business

Networking for your business whether it’s online or offline, is a crucial part of your marketing. If it hasn’t been, it ought to be. It’s another marketing strategy that doesn’t have to cost a lot of money (free if you’re online marketing) Networking for your business can be time consuming, but so beneficial. Here’s why:

Networking for your business offline:

I attended a networking event last night in Cambridge that was centred around social media help, so naturally this is my target audience. I came away buzzing and with 2 new leads to follow up with next week.

Last Friday i attended a networking event in Peterborough and met a great guy and we are chatting tomorrow about me potentially helping him with Instagram.

Last month i attended a local networking event in my small home town and i got 2 meetings from it and i am going to the next one tomorrow. It’s leading to great things already, imagine where or what it could lead to 6 months from now?networking for your business

Networking offline has already shown me why it is so beneficial for me to be doing this weekly. My target audience is obviously businesses that need help with their social media, so me finding them online hasn’t been very easy. Why? Because they’re not really hanging out on social media. They don’t feel confident hanging out there daily and therefore i am not finding them or making the connections.

I spent a lot of 2017 networking in the wrong places. 2018 is going to be very different. I have already be shown the difference it can make by doing what i was too lazy to do last year.

Networking for your business online:

Dependent on what your niche, service or product is, this can be hugely beneficial for your business. Facebook groups are great places to meet new and interesting people. However, remember you are there to network, meet new people – NOT sell to them. Networking can feel tedious, put the effort in and it will work.

I am part of a few great groups and every week i post 1-2 posts of valuable content and answer peoples questions etc and have made new contacts just by providing value. I am not there to sell (not to mention that selling is prohibited in almost all these groups)

How could you ramp up networking for your business? Could you do more online? Or could you get offline and attend some meetings yourself and see how you get on? Give the meetings a chance, it’s not an overnight thing. You will find which ones work for you and which don’t. Chalk them up as experience and learn from them.

The great thing about effective networking, is that you meet one person, which can then lead to 2 more and then several more connections. Word of mouth is a powerful thing.

Try the free MeetUp app, it’s great for local meet ups on just about anything.

Instagram Tips That Are Easy to Follow

Instagram Tips That Are Easy to Follow

Instagram tips that will help you grow your Instagram by making a few tweaks to your profile. This social media platform is a very visual platform, the picture needs to say it all and Then the text.

Instagram Tips 101

  • Ensure your bio says what you do – bullet point format works well. It makes it easy to read. At the bottom you have the option to add a link, pop a link to your website there.
  • Post often, not when you remember. Instagram is such a busy place (as are all social networking platforms now) that it’s imperative that you’re super consistent. I post on Instagram at least 3 times a day, 4 if i’m on a roll. The minimum is 2 a day if i’m swamped. But i don’t miss a day.
  • Size is everything they say! In the case of social media, you’re damn right it is! Your images must be the right size for Instagram, otherwise the text will run off the page etc. You want your profile to look professional.
  • Use catchy images that will stop people scrolling to read what you’ve got to say. The best way to do this is either design your own or get someone like myself to design them for you. Do the best for your social media as soon form the start. Don’t dabble, get straight in there. Contact Me Here if you’d like to work together on this.

Hashtag Instagram Tips

My final BIG Instagram tip is hashtags. Instagram is ALL about the hashtags. That’s how we get seen, that’s how we show up in peoples time lines. You can link your Twitter and Facebook profiles to your Instagram account too. I generally don’t post to twitter from there, simply because the image is far too big for twitter. I do post to Facebook though. Instagram hashtag tips

If you’re going to post to Facebook through Instagram, then leave out the hashtags in your post and post them in the comments section of your Instagram post. There is nothing worse than seeing 10+ hashtags on a Facebook post!

Here’s how to research #hashtags!

That little icon at the bottom that looks like a magnifing glass, click on that. Type in hashtags that are relevant to your niche and then click Tags. You’ll get a drop down of hashtags used with those words in. Click the first few. You’ll arrive at the top images for those hashtags.

Next: Click on the images and look at the hashtags used on that post. This bit of research will provide a bunch of new hashtags for you to use. You’ll want to use a few high rolling hashtags, but also smaller ones in order to get seen. When you mix up popular hashtags and less popular hashtags, magic starts to happen.

Consistency Tip

As with anything social media, consistency is always going to be key and secondly what you put out there. Because i do social media in my sleep, i have no trouble getting all these things done regularly. For some it may feel a bit daunting.

Here’s what you do: You pick 2 platforms where you think your audience is hanging out and you get really good at those. You absolutely do not have to be on every social media platform!

Make 2018 the year you do better on Instagram with these few essential Instagram Tips. Good luck.

Marketing Planners

Marketing Planners for 2018

Marketing planners, are you a fellow addict like me? I started looking a week ago and realised i am a bit early to the game. I reached out to my 2 favourite business for planners (Leonie Dawson and Clare Mitchell) to see if and when they would be bringing out new marketing planners for the year ahead. marketing planners 2018

Unfortunately Leoni said she wouldn’t be bringing out a planner for 2018, but would still be selling her work books, which are incredible! I will be ordering those when they launch. Claire got back to me and said they’d be launching one soon for pre-order and low and behold, yesterday they did! Naturally i got super excited, found the post and Facebook and pre-ordered mine, with a saving of £10 too. Bargain! I would happily pay full price for it though, because it is a kick arse planner.

Are you already thinking marketing planners and planning?

I know it’s only the end of September, but i do like to be organised. There is something about the new year, it brings hope. So far, the year has been good for myself and my business. I did think i’d do better, but i have learnt along the way and i’m seriously pleased that no matter what, i have stuck with it, tried new things and things are going well.

How about for you? Could you have done better? There is still time to make changes. Still time to do something different if what you have been doing hasn’t been working. As we head into the last quarter of the year, let’s plan.

Strategy is a word you hear a lot in business, but that shit works trust me. When you know what you’re doing daily and what you’re posting, you get into good habits and things start to pick up. What will you do to end the last quarter of 2017 on a better footing? Something to think about…. But don’t think too long, you have to DO to be successful, not Wish.

Which marketing planners have you been looking at?

Setting Boundaries in Business

Setting Boundaries in Business

Setting boundaries in business is something i have found many businesses don’t learn until they might be a year or more into their business. It was the same for me in my previous corset business. I was available to everyone constantly. I was replying to emails and messages on Facebook at midnight… not good! setting boundaries

Things changed after i invested in a course years ago. It was a course to grow my business, but also included boundary setting. The course taught about setting boundaries and why you shouldn’t be readily available constantly. I was close to burn out at that stage.

How did setting boundaries effect my business?

Admittedly, a few customers who had gotten used to me being there all the time were a bit miffed that suddenly i wasn’t replying to them immediately and some even said it was bad customer service!! Seriously, burning out and burning the candle on both ends is NOT healthy. Setting boundaries was essential more than anything else. I simply explained that i could not be available all the time, however i would be available between these hours and if people didn’t catch me in the evening before i logged off, then i would of course reply in the morning.

Then i got really brave and turned off the messenger functionality on my page. The page had grown so much that i was waking to so many messages and it was stressing me. By turning off the messages, it encouraged people to either email or simply as their question on my page, which was even better for business.

How you can set boundaries

Some easy way you can set boundaries in your business or personal life is to not be readily available all the time. My new thing is 2 evening a week my phone goes on silent face down and i enjoy some time to myself. It’s not about being online Constantly!

Set times that you check emails. Morning and afternoon is sufficient, you don’t have to be on there at 10pm! Conclusion: Give yourself a break, be kind and stop letting people control your day. Because your health mattres and you have to put yourself first every now and then. Hence switching off and making time for you.

Investing in your Business and why you should.

investing in your business

Investing in your Business

Why i think investing in your business is crucial. Because i have done it myself and once upon a time i tried to do it all myself too.

Social media is a beast and a beast that changes regularly. You need to be on it all the time (7 days a week) and know your shit. If you don’t, that’s when you need professional help and it’s time to invest in your business. I basically fudged it for over two years in my previous business. All I was doing was reading free blog posts, fudging it on Facebook all the time. I had zero strategy. What the hell was strategy after all?

When I finally invested … I think my first mentor cost me …  was £7,000. I shit myself. I’m thinking, “There is no way I’m gonna be able to do this.” I remember putting a lot of it on a credit card. Let me tell you this though, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Within two or three months, I was doubling my income. Within 18 months, I was making five figures a month. I was turning over five figures a month!! I was blown away by what a professional mentor can do for you.

When you need to invest in your business.

I also got approached a few weeks ago being asked, “Can we swap services?” Now, what this lady had to offer wasn’t anything that I needed, but she wanted my expertise. Now like I said, Facebook isn’t a quick fix. It’s a lot of  strategies and a lot of learning.

I tried to explain this to her, but i wasn’t getting through and in the end we parted ways and no services were swapped. She is still fudging it by the way…. This is why investing in your business is crucial.

How can I help your business?

So have you got your one focus this month? I’d like you to pick one focus for this month or next month, something that you really want to achieve and you haven’t gotten round to it. Or you come upon a stumbling block, and you find any excuse not to do that thing, well that is gonna change. We are going to achieve that one thing, okay?
I usually charge £350 for this, but if you happen to stumble across this blog, i want to give you this for just £199 for the month. By taking that leap with me and investing in your business, i will walk you through it all holding your hand.

Instead of having a structured call, we’re going to dive straight in and talk mindset and strategy. I’m just gonna let you have me for an hour, not just one either, but 3! You can ask me anything you want in business. Anything that you are struggling with, I’m all ears and I’ll give you the answers, and we will work through it. I will also be available on messenger for you and i will keep you motivated and accountable.

You can Upgrade

Now, you also have the opportunity to upgrade. You can upgrade and pay £350 and i will let you have a second month for just £150! That’s huge right there. That is what I’m offering you. I currently pay somebody £500 a month to have that service, but I want to do this for you because I know that you’re a small business, and I know how tough it is when you’re starting out, okay? However, investing in your business is the only way (i have found) to make it grow. Or maybe you’d prefer just a one hour with me? But this offer is far better than just one hour.

So I’ve got a whole list of what I’m gonna help you with here, but you need to get in touch with me if you want to book this. Now I know what it’s like to juggle a million things. As a woman, I’m already juggling a million things. As a single mom, I am, but also as business woman. I’m just adding even more shit to my list. I’ve got my focus. What’s your focus going to be and how can I help you?

I want to help you earn more money.

Have a think about it and let me know that you want to take me up on this offer, get yourself paid up, and get your first call scheduled in. I can’t wait to work with you. I’m so excited to hear how I can help you, and what your one thing is that you want to achieve this month, and we’re going to make sure that you achieve it. I WANT TO HELP YOU EARN MORE MONEY. As a woman who’s sole income feeds my children and pays the bills, i want to see more women being able to do that. Even if you’re happily married, i want to see you earning and contributing to your family income Because you Can. Investing in your business is the smartest business choice you’ll make.

How do you start? Drop me an email to my personal email with the heading ‘Coaching Offer’ and i will get right back to you within 24 hours and we will get set up. Here is the email:

Don’t forget to let me know what you’d like help with and when you’d like to get started. This offer is valid for anyone who comes across it, even if you read this blog 2 years down the line.

Summer Gremlins In Your Business

summer gremlins in business

Summer Gremlins are coming!

Good day!  How are we doing, my lovelies? Today i want to talk about those summer gremlins that are hiding dormant ready to come out and invade! Think i’m nuts? Keep reading…
I wanted to talk about summer seeing as it is on its way.

What are summer gremlins then?

As I said, summer’s coming and the summer gremlins definitely get most business owners. Now you may think that’s a little bit funny, but it’s true. I for one know what it’s like. You’ve got the kids at home, you’ve got everything going one, you’re trying to work from your home office, and as a result shit’s just not getting done. You’re being bugged all time, you’d rather be sitting outside with a beer or a coffee or whatever. The summer gremlins take hold of most business owners and therefore you stop being proactive. (See, they do exist)
So it’s really during the summer they come out to play, because there’s so many other things that distract you. We come across stumbling blocks in business often, mostly we deal with them and move on. In the summer though, you are more likely, it’s proven, to just say, “Meh, can’t be bothered anymore.” So let me tell you – Don’t be that person!

What do you want to achieve this month?

What I want to ask you is this: What was one thing that you want to concentrate on this month? Which one thing do you want to achieve? Is it that you want to be more consistent of Facebook? Is it that you want to promise to do two lives every week on Facebook? Or maybe it’s that you wanna grow your email list or create your first opt-in? What is that one thing that’s really important to you?

What i want to achieve this month.

Now for me, it’s to develop properly and complete the first third of my new 12 week coaching programme. I don’t want tell you too much about that, however, what’s coming is going to be amazing. I ran this by a mentor earlier this week, and she was so excited. She knows a lot of business people and she doesn’t anyone that’s doing this programme, and she’s super excited. Which has made me even more excited! Further more, if nobody else doing it, then you need to be thinking you want to be the first in line for it.

I want you to tell me what ONE thing you want to achieve this month.

How to blog and not just throw content out there.

how to blog

How to blog and not just throw content out there.

How to blog – do you know how? So i i recently came across a post in a group i belong to on Facebook for people in business and someone was asking for help with blogging. So i reached out of course. But then i started reading all the comments on this post and all the ‘just do it yourself’ and ‘just sit and write’ replies. Seriously, it got me a little upset. Blogging is not just journaling, there are structures that need to be followed, looking at templates that are readable and so much more. Not to mention SEO, tags and headings etc. Learning how to blog is not an overnight thing. Blogging is certainly not typing out an email and just sending it out.

How to blog – the basics.

So i have been blogging for years and i love it. I have blogged from anything in the fashion industry to plastic bags. I currently blog for this company and yes i now know a lot about plastic bags now! But blogging is not just about writing and i had to learn how to blog effectively.

Firstly, i have always used WordPress, it is google friendly and almost every blog i see ranked on Google is a wordpress blog. WordPress provides great plug ins and has some great templates too. Secondly, do a little SEO training, spend time reading up on it or with someone who really knows their stuff. I have had Skype calls with Kristen Wilson, she has been invaluable in helping me in the unknown world of SEO. Oh and learn about heading tags too, they make a difference.

Then you’ll need to learn about tagging your graphics that go into the blog post and how to weave your key words into the post without keyword stacking.

These are truly just the basics on how to blog, there is more to learn. This is why people hire me to blog for them. I enjoy it, i know how to write and most importantly, i know how to blog the Right Way!
