How to blog and not just throw content out there.

How to blog – do you know how? So i i recently came across a post in a group i belong to on Facebook for people in business and someone was asking for help with blogging. So i reached out of course. But then i started reading all the comments on this post and all the ‘just do it yourself’ and ‘just sit and write’ replies. Seriously, it got me a little upset. Blogging is not just journaling, there are structures that need to be followed, looking at templates that are readable and so much more. Not to mention SEO, tags and headings etc. Learning how to blog is not an overnight thing. Blogging is certainly not typing out an email and just sending it out.

How to blog – the basics.

So i have been blogging for years and i love it. I have blogged from anything in the fashion industry to plastic bags. I currently blog for this company and yes i now know a lot about plastic bags now! But blogging is not just about writing and i had to learn how to blog effectively.

Firstly, i have always used WordPress, it is google friendly and almost every blog i see ranked on Google is a wordpress blog. WordPress provides great plug ins and has some great templates too. Secondly, do a little SEO training, spend time reading up on it or with someone who really knows their stuff. I have had Skype calls with Kristen Wilson, she has been invaluable in helping me in the unknown world of SEO. Oh and learn about heading tags too, they make a difference.

Then you’ll need to learn about tagging your graphics that go into the blog post and how to weave your key words into the post without keyword stacking.

These are truly just the basics on how to blog, there is more to learn. This is why people hire me to blog for them. I enjoy it, i know how to write and most importantly, i know how to blog the Right Way!

Generate Sales By Blogging

Generate Sales By Blogging

Generate sales, it’s basically why we’re predominantly in business right? To generate sales. Naturally you’ll want to be in business to help people too, otherwise you’re just going to sound greedy. For me, i am in business to help other businesses grow. I help businesses grow through social media, marketing and blogging. I also help businesses generate more sales by creating awesome content for their social media platforms and blog posts.

But how do i generate sales through blogging?

generate sales from blogging

Generate sales by writing about what you love.

Your first objective when blogging, is to help people. It should be at the forefront of your mind, not the fact that you want people to buy from you. My blog posts are written to help people, not predominantly make sales. That comes second. Yes i got into this business to generate sales and an income, but i want to help people too. Here are some basic steps to ensure you are blogging the most effectively:

  • You should be using WordPress as your platform. WordPress and Google work well together and WordPress has some great plug ins for SEO.
  • Ensure your tag lines are set up and your keywords are in the correct place. Need help? Contact Me.
  • Blog regularly (once a week) and use your keywords in the right places.
  • Use the Yoast plug in and leant how to use it.
  • Share all these great new blog posts on your social media platforms. Twitter is great for this and it is all free traffic to your site.
  • Don’t forget to share old blog posts too, don’t just write a blog, share it once and then forget about it.

Blogging is by far one of my most favourite things to do for clients. I can get totally lost in it and spend 2-3 hours happily blogging. If you’re not blogging effectively and using SEO, then you are wasting your valuable time.

How Can i Help?

You may want to outsource blogging or you may want a one hour consultation with me, i can show how to do it and then you can blog regularly. Contact me to find out more.

Using Facebook Live

Using Facebook Live

Using Facebook live is just about a must for every business right now. Since this live feature was rolled out to every business page and even to groups, it has grown businesses massively and gotten a ton of organic reach. We all know that Facebook barely gives us any organic reach these days and it is only set to decline i’m afraid.

So here are some Tips on using Facebook live:
  • Be sure your lighting is good, also you don’t want a cluttered back ground.
  • No back ground noise, let your audience hear you clearly.
  • It’s ok if you get a little flustered, don’t let that discourage you. If anything it makes you more ‘real’.
  • Turn your phone onto airplane mode, it avoids any calls coming in whilst you are live.
  • When people ask you questions whilst you’re live, use their name when answering their question, people love to be acknowledged.
  • Play around with different times of using Facebook live and different lengths of times too. Try just a quick intro for 2 minutes and then go for longer next time.
  • Always use a call to action whilst live.
  • Ask  people to follow you when you are live, so that they get a message each time you’re live.

These are just a bunch of basic, but very useful tips for you to start your journey using Facebook live. I know for me, going live is waaaaay out of my comfort zone, but having just done it a few times recently for a client, i have found i am more confident and actually enjoy them. I used to dread it, but now look forward to it.

It’s ok to make a few notes and pop them near your phone, it’s easy to forget your main points once you go live.

Live video is only going to get bigger as time goes on, so expect to see more and more streams appearing on your feed. So go have fun with it and make it part of your marketing strategy.

Why blogging is absolutely essential for your business.

Not blogging? You're leaving money on the table.

Not blogging? You’re leaving money on the table.

Why blogging is absolutely essential for your business.

Blogging is no longer an option in business, every business should be doing it and here are some of the reasons why:

  • Blogging drives traffic to your website
  • It increases your SEO
  • It positions your brand as an industry leader
  • Blogging will also help develop better customer relationships

As i often tell clients, blogging should be an integral part of your business and marketing strategy. It’s like social media, it’s no longer optional for any business, small or large corporations. You need to be doing it.

Most businesses are on one or two social media platforms right? Don’t forget blogging will also give a business more valuable content to share with their audience too. If blog posts are useful and what an audience want to read, then those posts and will get click throughs to their website, which help both with SEO and credibility for any business.

Fresh content is always going to be essential with your social media platforms, so be sure to be posting regularly. Several times a day (at least) on your social media platform, with great graphics and the odd link to your website. Don’t over market, you need to post content that people want to engage with.

How Often Should I Be Blogging?

Firstly, I recommend at least once a week, which therefore lets google know your site is active and provides your audience with fresh content to read. If you can blog more often then that is fantastic, keep doing what you’re doing.

What Should I Write About?

Write about your products, how useful they are and any tips you can provide. Be a resource of knowledge for others. If you provide a service, then provide useful tips. You’ll find my blogs and posts on social media are more about giving tips and inspiring small businesses to keep going and not be afraid to ask for help. Furthermore don’t be the person who just sells, sells, sells. It’s boring and it’s not what people want to read.

Finally, if you’re not blogging, get a WordPress site opened and blog, blog, blog. Have fun and furthermore, enjoy it and don’t forget, provide great content every single time.
