Posting On Social Media

Posting on social media, but how often? There are likely 1000’s of blog posts and articles written on this very subject. Is this one correct? All i will say is that it has worked for me and my clients.

What should i be posting on social media?

Posting on social media can be a bit of a mine field, but getting this right, can mean a lot more eyes on your business and therefore a lot more sales.

Here are some great examples of what I recommend posting on social media:

  • Call it the 80/20 rule or one in seven rule: This rule is where only one of every seven posts overtly promotes your business. The remaining six should be focused on sharing valuable content, including posts from the community. This doesn’t mean you can’t promote your business in those other posts; just be sure you pair it with great content.
  • Ask conversation-starter questions: In other words, posts that get people to answer a question. Most people enjoy sharing their opinions, so ask Facebook fans to weigh in on topics that are relevant to your business and interesting to them. For example, a fitness center may ask fans to vote on their favorite summer sports in order to be entered into a drawing to win private lessons for them and a friend who joins the club. The questions should engage fans and inspire them to refer business while giving the business owner great insight. People like to talk about themselves… simple!
  • Share your expertise: however, make this fun too! Post little-known, fun facts in the form of questions with a special offer presented to the first person to answer correctly. Infographics work well too.

These 3 small things will only work when you are consistent. Posting 1-2 times a week will do nothing for your business and not show you as having any authority on social media.

Posting on social media doesn’t have to be a chore. Make it fun and make your social media a fun place for people to hang out and don’t forget… Interact! Customer service is everything. Talk to your audience, acknowledge their comments on your social media.
