Where is your audience?

where is your audience

Where is your audience?

Hey there ladies and gents. This is a little bit of a random blog post, usually i know what i am blogging abut the week before. But i want to talk on where is your audience.

I’m just on my sofa, sitting here and working on some client work. I’m just putting together a 12 week training course and right now I’m writing about content. But before we get into content creation, a question that you need to ask yourself is, where is your audience?

What’s your comfort zone platform?

Facebook might be your comfort zone, but is your audience on Facebook. Now, for me, Facebook groups have been really good for this business, and Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter is killing it at the moment. In my previous business, my online retail business selling corsets, Facebook was my zone. Over 175,000 likes, was earning tens of thousands a month from it.
But where is your audience? Are all your business people on Facebook? Are you in the fitness? Here’s a though, are you doing videos on Instagram? Try and change it up a bit. If you’ve been in your business for a year or more and you’re finding that you’re not getting a lot of traction from where you’re spending most of your time, start looking at other places. Start looking at where your audience might be. Start looking at your competitors. What are they doing? Where are they? Start thinking about different ways of approaching how you are putting your content out there.

A little homework for you to discover where is your audience hanging out.

You never know, within a few months, your business could dramatically do a full circle and change around just by making these small changes.
So sit down in a quiet environment for an hour or so. Turn off your Facebook notifications (biggest time waster there) and just have a look at what other people are doing. Write a list of 5-10 successful people in your niche.

A little bit of research goes a massive, massive way. If you are into fitness, look at Beach Body. I’m trying to think of some other names off the top of my head. I’m a bit of a Beach Body girl myself. Did an INSANITY MAX:30 workout today. Jullian Michaels who did the crazy popular 30 day shred years ago, check her out. Maybe you’re a coach? Check out Seth Godin; Dan Meredith, epic guy from the UK, says it how it is, I’ve learnt so much from him. He’s a business coach and is a lot of fun too.

Just go and find the people that are in your niche and find out what they’re doing, then go and find out where your audience is. Massively important, okay? And keep posting consistently. You’re not going to grow overnight. So just take some time. Don’t stress. You’ve got this, okay?

Take care.

Investing in your business can mean a one hour coaching call to get your mind straight, it could be outsourcing your content or blogging. It could  be a bunch of other things.

Don’t have the money to invest? Seriously, most people have the money to buy takeaways every weekend or get a new tattoo, yet they won’t invest in their business? Those aren’t the clients i want to work with anyway. I want to work with Serious awesome people who truly want to grow their business and succeed.

I read a book years ago when i first starting working for myself and it gave great advise. It said everyone has the money to invest if they truly want it. Sell shit of eBay, sell on local FB pages! Because let’s face it… we all have stuff around the house we don’t need and can sell. That’s exactly how i got the money together for my first few Facebook Adverts. In turn i started turning over 5 figures a month in my previous retail business and was killing it! Do you want the same?

Time you did some thinking…

If you’re serious about growing your business, then decide what you’d like to outsource. Or what you truly need help with and let’s connect.

Being Myself and Doing Things Differently In Business!

Being Myself and Doing Things Differently!

Being myself in day to day life is easy, but in business i found i was a completely different person. It hasn’t really bothered me… until now. This week i started paying attention to a group i had joined on Facebook last year, but not really paid much attention to. (Coffee with Dan), warning, the man can be crude and swears, if this doesn’t bother you, crack on! But something felt off this week and i decided to go in there and get involved. I saw an advert to join Dans paid site and immediately went for it, it felt right. I have always listened to my gut. Long story short, shit got real! As in REAL deep! I went in there and said i didn’t know who i was really targeting etc and got some links to training modules.

I had spend the first night barely sleeping worrying, I didn’t know who i wanted to be in business. Guess what happened? I knew within half a day exactly who i wanted to be once i asked for help, who i wanted to target and what my ideal client would look like. It was never ever this clear until that very moment yesterday. I have been part of that paid group for just 3 days and i have changed full circle. It’s true that I am a no nonsense kind of woman, i take no shit, but i am one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. I want to portray that in my business.being myself

So what do i want to do being myself?

I still want to help people on social media, of course i do! But here is who i truly think i can resonate with and help the most. Women in business, mums, women who lack self confidence. I’m going add motivational and general business coaching to my services. I feel so many women are held back by their lack of belief or by being given the wrong information and then get so stressed and confused. I am here to change that and get you rolling girls!

Coaching with me

Coaching with me will involve motivational and inspirational coaching, i am huge on mindset. I will help you find your ideal target, who you should be targeting with your business and how to free up your time so that you can spend more time with your kids, your family, your partner/husband or find time just for you. I’m a single mum, the kids dad doesn’t play a big part in their lives at all, so it’s really important that i get that time alone. Because when they’re not at school, they’re with me.

Because i get up so early to work on personal development and work out, by the time the kids go to bed, i don’t get much time for myself because i go to bed early too. These 5.30am’s can get pretty exhausting, but boy do i sleep better for it. So i ensure a couple of times a week i find time for me, an hour or two just to ‘do me’. No work, so client calls, no blogging or scheduling, just coffee and Netflix! Imagine that, in the middle of the day. That’s what i can help you with too.

I’d love to connect with you, you can join my private Free group on Facebook Here.

Identifying Your Target Audience on Social Media

identifying your target audience

Identifying Your Audience

Identifying your target audience for both social media and your website can feel a little daunting when you’re new to this, but it doesn’t need to be. I get that building websites and opening up social media platforms can boggle the mind, but let me lay it out for you simply.

It is important to take a step back and remember that a website is a new channel of communication for you. As are your social media platforms. There is a message and a receiver—that is, your content and its intended audience.

There are 5 main points to think about when thinking about who your audience is and how you want to target that audience. By following these 5 rules, you will be identifying your target audience piece by piece. Amazing things start to happen when it all comes together.

What are the 5 rules when thinking about identifying your audience?

Who:

Who is the site for? Existing customers, potential customers, or both? Who do you want to visit your site? Members of the press? Members of your community?

What:

What are they looking for when they come to your site? Do you know what their technological skill level and what do they do online? What are their budgets and spending habits? Age is a factor too! What colours, styles, fonts, and phrasing will appeal to them?

When:

When would a potential visitor seek out your site? Would they come to your site before becoming a client or is it a group filled with existing customers looking for support?

Where:

Where are your visitors going to be located? Are they in your geographic region? Are they all across the United States or from all over the world?

And Finally Why:

Why are these people coming to your site? Why should they come to your site instead of your competitor’s website?

Tips on Identifying your target audience

Here is an example, let’s say you have a store that sells dresses. You want to make a website to show off your latest designs and sell them online. Are these prom dresses or fashion for senior citizens? Are they affordable or expensive? And are they professional attire or evening wear? Your message needs to be clear.

Identifying your target audience can be a very difficult exercise. Many people fall into the trap of thinking too broadly. If you find yourself getting stuck or worrying that you might be missing out on potential customers.

I hope this has helped identify your target audience. Don’t be afraid to scale it down.

Social Media – Should i give up on it?

social media

Social Media – Should i give up on it?

Social media, are you thinking of giving up on it? Maybe you have a love/hate relationship with it? I feel many businesses have this same problem, so thought i would write this blog post to help you out.

So you’ve tried everything on Facebook and nothing is happening? Tweeted a bunch but don’t really know what Twitter is all about? Posted a few Instagram pictures and no interaction and don’t understand the importance of great hashtags? So what do you do…. give up… or you could just take another look at your relationship with social media and how you are using it.

Here’s the thing with social media…

The first thing to remember is that it is there to build relationships with audiences, with people you would never have been able to connect with before. RELATIONSHIPS – that is the key word right there. So, the first thing you need to look at is how you are using social media for your business. This could be the game changer right here.

If you’re desperately trying to sell, the chances are all you’re doing is trying to ‘sell, sell, sell’ and people just don’t like that. This has never been my approach and i find it works a dream to not be salesy.

Here is another way to use social media – to network, get to know your audience and treat them like they are real people and not a statistic. There’s a thought right? This is for the long haul, not a short term fix. I am on my platforms daily, in my Facebook group daily and talking to people about many things that are not related to my business. Why? Because i am building relationships and even making friends with these people. People will always buy from those they know, like and trust.

The above are two very different approaches and could have a big impact on how they work for you and your business. Which way do you use it?

Is social media harming your business?

If all you’re doing on your social media platforms in trying to sell to people, you could very well be harming your social media platforms and putting people off.

Are you showing the heart and soul of your business? Using well lit (not dark and dim) images on Instagram? Actually… on all your social media platforms. Are your bios set up full of info with a link to a well put together website?

We all set up our business social media platforms because we thought they were a good idea right? And they still are a great idea. Sometimes we set up all the platforms available and try to spread ourselves too thin. So how about you just choose 2 platforms to put your heart and soul into? Once you’ve cracked those fully (that could take months) then think about adding another platform, but only when the other 2 are doing well and are more established.

Remember, social media is about building relationships before you try and sell. Secondly, it is about consistency. If you’re not consistent, your audience will move on.

I hope this has helped you see that social media is still a big part of your business and you should definitely be nurturing your platforms. If you need any help with social media, i am always happy to help. Contact Me Here.

Instagram Tips To Get Noticed More

Instagram Tips

Instagram isn’t quite like the other social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. So i thought i would jump on and give you some Instagram Tips that can help any size business.

So if you’re looking for tips about how to get more followers and Likes on Instagram, I’ve got some advice for you — so let’s get straight into it shall we:

My 5 Best Instagram Tips

Post at the right time

Seems simple enough right? You have to think about the times that people are most likely to be sat online on their preferred social media platforms. It’s likely going to be first thing in the morning when they are having their coffee/tea. I know that i do this.

Here’s what i know, people log in first thing, then on their way to and from school/work and then in the evening say after 8pm when dinner, baths and chores are out of the way. So think about that next time you post on IG.

Use Hashtags (obviously)

It seems obvious, but lots of businesses just aren’t utilising hashtags. Hashtags are what get you noticed on IG (Instagram)

Some of the most trendy Instagram hashtags you’ll find include: #tbt (throwback Thursday), #instadaily, #photooftheday, #instagood. For my business it’s #smallbiz #marketing and so on.

Don’t hashtag stack though, it doesn’t look good and looks like you’re trying too hard. 5 good hashtags are better than 15 rubbish ones.

Share Great Images

You want to share not only great graphics, but the right size graphics too. Text that runs off the page doesn’t look professional. Use Canva or Sparkadobe to create great images and they have IG templates ready for you to use. These Instagram tips are ready for you to start implementing right away, so don’t hang around.

Use Instagram Video

Instagram lets you record short videos which are a great way to build those all important relationships. You could create a video telling people what’s coming next, what’s new or ask their opinion on something. People love to answer questions.

Fill Out Your Instagram Bio

This is where you put a kick arse description of what you do, how you can help others, use hashtags and then at the bottom a link to your website/blog. Here is how mine looks.

I hope these Instagram Tips have provided you with some value and that you can go ahead and start implementing them today. One last tip: Edit your bio from a desktop computer, otherwise you can’t use the space bar to start a new line.

Have fun and let me know how you get on!

5 Marketing Ideas to Ramp Up Your Social Media

5 Marketing Ideas to Ramp Up Your Social Media

Marketing ideas, we all want more of those right? Sometimes our mind draws a bank and you’re left with a head full of empty nothing. So i wanted to give you a few ideas that might get those creative juices flowing. marketing ideas

Easy marketing ideas that anyone can implement.

So you want more eyeballs on your social media platforms? Here are 5 marketing ideas to start growing your audience:

  1. Schedule your posts to reach a wider audience. Schedule a couple to post out during the middle of the night, to reach other countries, who may have only just put their kids to bed and are ready to sit down and browse through Facebook.
  2. Create different graphic sizes for different platforms. The 2 graphics in this post are sizes for Instagram and twitter. The twitter graphic is far smaller than the Instagram one.
  3. Here is a good one. Review your insights in both Facebook and Twitter and see what works. Grab a coffee and see what performed really well and at what times. Then find/create content based upon that. You have to have a strategy when it comes to your social media, without it you are constantly ‘fudging it’
  4. Vary your posts. Don’t (definitely don’t) just put links to your products or blog. Give helpful hints and tips, post great quotes and don’t forget those posts that are all about engagement. Ask your audience questions, find a funny meme.
  5. Last but not least, make your favourite quotes into graphics. People are visual creatures, they like to see. So create eye catching graphics or get someone to that for you (i of course can do that for you) marketing ideas

Recap

I hope these marketing ideas have helped you think of a few new posts you can post to your social media platforms. With social media, you simply need to be a little creative, be consistent and engage with your audience, don’t leave them hanging. Just by making some small changes, you could see a massive increase in what is going on across your social media platforms.

Repurposing Old Content On Social Media

Repurposing Old Content On Social Media

Repurposing old content is totally allowed on social media, it’s just about being a bit tactical about it and not showing the same posts every day. Creating content for your business and marketing is time consuming, which is why many businesses out source this to the likes of me. Creating content can not only be challenging, but also hugely time consuming and sometimes coming up with new content can seem impossible. Not everyone can create a new graphic in 2 minutes like those of us programmed to do it.

Repurposing old content is still going to attract customers and turn them into leads/clients.

How repurposing old content using social media is huge:

It’s something i do a lot for both myself and for clients and it can bring great results. Who says you can’t post a blog post you did 6 months ago on your social media networks? Who says you can’t use that graphic you created last month? You will constantly have new eyes on your business on your social media platforms, so repurposing old content is getting seen by new people.

Not to mention if you post them at different times of day, different time zones see them. My clients stretch from the UK to the USA, so my posts at 2am, get seem by my USA audience, it’s a Win Win. What is stopping you from doing the same? You’re not up at 2am? Why are you not scheduling posts like every clever entrepreneur is doing? Read this post on scheduling and why it is absolutely essential.

Repurposing old content means i am getting more organic reach too, which means FREE reach. Every business whats free reach and to spend less on marketing. I get that budgets are tight, i was once at the beginning.

One Last Tip: Create different graphics to repurpose your old content, then people won’t get bored of the same images. This is a huge and free marketing tip, so use it daily and get more reach.

Story Telling in Business

story telling

Story Telling in Business

Story telling in business is one of the biggest marketing tips you need to take notice of. Why? Because people like to see real people, like to know who you are and how did you get to where you are. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t need to talk about yourself all day long. Below i am going to give you some tips on how story telling can impact your business and how you can start story telling. Story telling is personal and people like it.

Tips on how to start story telling in your business.

You could start with telling people how your business was born. How did you start doing what you’re doing and Why did you decide to go down the path you’re on. You can do this through a blog post or through a few little posts on social media. BUT a great one is to jump online and do a Facebook Live and get talking to people. People can see your manner, hear your voice and see your face. This goes a long way in building relationships with your audience.

You could even incorporate a couple of stories of people you’ve worked with and how you came to meet. This is a great way to show examples of how you work too. Plus it’s ok to talk about your family every now and then and what you are up to over the weekend.

How can story telling impact my business?

If your competitors aren’t sharing stories, then this can easily set you apart from them and you will be remembered over them in a heart beat. Because you are building those all important relationships and people are starting to like you. Now we all know, people buy from those that they Know, Like and Trust. Yes i know you’ve heard that before, BUT i need it to sink in. It’s a vital part of business. Let people get to know you through story telling and you’ll start seeing a difference in your business.

Story telling earns peoples trust. It’s said that 92% of consumers say they trust earned media, aka personal recommendations, above all other forms of media. Earned media can include word of mouth, customer recommendations/referrals, media mentions, etc. That’s a huge number and if that hasn’t convinced you that story telling in your business is a no brainer, then maybe nothing will.

Plan To Succeed or Plan To Fail

plan to succeed

Plan To Succeed or Plan To Fail

Plan to succeed or plan to fail – ever heard of that saying? Probably a 1000 times right? If you don’t plan to succeed in your business and sit down and actually start planning how you’re going to succeed, how will you succeed? This saying applies to all of the New Year’s resolutions people made a couple of months ago – getting in shape, becoming financially stable, and yes, your social media strategy, too. Have you succeeded in sticking with the plan?

Tips on how you can plan to succeed.

Throughout December, i got planning, i wanted and of course still do, for 2017 to be my best year yet, especially after a hard 2016. So i sat down and started to plan to succeed. I bought a couple of fabulous journals and planners and got started. It really helped me clear my head and get focused. Here are some tips to get started (it’s not to late to succeed and plan, we’re only in February)

  • Prioritise your goals and decide how you plan on achieving them. Write down step by step how you are going to achieve those goals.
  • Know your business objectives. What are you actually trying to achieve on social media? Building your email list? Building relationships? (which you should be doing anyway) Making sales? For example, if you’re wanting to drive sales but push image-heavy content with no easy click-through option, users will drop off and you will fall short of accomplishing your website traffic & sales quota.
  • Huge tip before you write your strategy: Tell your story, don’t just try to sell to people all day long.
  • Now start writing that strategy. Decide which social media platforms you are going to concentrate on. How often will you post and what times of day? (Then you have to actually stick to this)

What does your audience want to see?

Most of all, your audience wants an experience. They want to feel special, feel like they matter and of course want to see great customer service. Another thing, find out what your audience is passionate about and get focused on that. Lastly, show your audience your passion. This is such a simple marketing tactic, yet so many companies are missing the boat.

Then maybe do the odd competition or giveaway. It doesn’t have to be a full make up set or item of clothing, it can be a discount code. People just love entering competitions, i’ve been doing it on This Facebook Page for years on and off and it works.

I hope after reading this you found a nugget or 2 and can put some fire into your strategy, or at least start one of you haven’t got one.
