Setting Boundaries in Business

Setting Boundaries in Business

Setting boundaries in business is something i have found many businesses don’t learn until they might be a year or more into their business. It was the same for me in my previous corset business. I was available to everyone constantly. I was replying to emails and messages on Facebook at midnight… not good! setting boundaries

Things changed after i invested in a course years ago. It was a course to grow my business, but also included boundary setting. The course taught about setting boundaries and why you shouldn’t be readily available constantly. I was close to burn out at that stage.

How did setting boundaries effect my business?

Admittedly, a few customers who had gotten used to me being there all the time were a bit miffed that suddenly i wasn’t replying to them immediately and some even said it was bad customer service!! Seriously, burning out and burning the candle on both ends is NOT healthy. Setting boundaries was essential more than anything else. I simply explained that i could not be available all the time, however i would be available between these hours and if people didn’t catch me in the evening before i logged off, then i would of course reply in the morning.

Then i got really brave and turned off the messenger functionality on my page. The page had grown so much that i was waking to so many messages and it was stressing me. By turning off the messages, it encouraged people to either email or simply as their question on my page, which was even better for business.

How you can set boundaries

Some easy way you can set boundaries in your business or personal life is to not be readily available all the time. My new thing is 2 evening a week my phone goes on silent face down and i enjoy some time to myself. It’s not about being online Constantly!

Set times that you check emails. Morning and afternoon is sufficient, you don’t have to be on there at 10pm! Conclusion: Give yourself a break, be kind and stop letting people control your day. Because your health mattres and you have to put yourself first every now and then. Hence switching off and making time for you.

8 Experts Reveal The Biggest Mistake You’re Making On LinkedIn

You don’t understand.

Why do some people kill it on LinkedIn with every single post they write… yet you’re languishing in the depths, unable to even kickstart your traction?

It’s unfair, you think.

You work your DAMN hardest too!

But, there’s a reason for your lack of engagement.

And that is — you are making some of the biggest mistakes that can be made on LinkedIn.

To help you, I’ve reached out to 8 LinkedIn experts to help you identify what some of these mistakes are.

I specifically asked them:

“What are the biggest mistakes and myths you see happening on LinkedIn? What are the biggest wastes of time?”

And these were their answers:

8 Mistakes You Are Making On LinkedIn… Without Even Knowing

Michaela Alexis, Grade A Digital

I think the biggest mistake I see is people presenting themselves as somebody that they think they SHOULD be, rather than the awesome human being that they actually are. There’s been an idea in business for a very long time that we need to “leave our personal issues at home”, like we can all just somehow shut off the human part of our brain as soon as we step into the office. That may have been semi manageable, prior to platforms like LinkedIn that are redefining the business culture.

I have yet to meet or chat with a single person that doesn’t have an inspiring story to tell, and yet, so many users are avoiding telling that story and opting instead to mask themselves in itchy suits and spammy pitches.

Tied to that, I think the biggest waste of time is expecting people to open up and connect with you on LinkedIn, when you aren’t giving them any reason to. If you aren’t prepared to keep it real, I wouldn’t bother using the platform at all.

Thomas Ma, Sapphire Apps

People not being real with who they are. Some of the people on Linkedin will promote simply to help themselves out. It’s obvious to see who’s genuine and who’s out there just pitching to people for the sake of business deals. People need to understand that being genuine is how you can get someone to like them. The best mentality to be genuine is to provide value that can help someone in your network on Linkedin.

The biggest waste of time is thinking too much. A lot of times I’ll spend 10 minutes max to write and record something and publish. Nothing is perfect. Vanity is another thing that people spend a lot of time on. Trying to perfect that right post or video. The numbers will come as you act as yourself, not what others are doing.

Gilles De Clerck, Salesflare

Link dumping.

Some people still seem to confuse social media with link sharing platforms.

They post a link to some piece of content they have an interest in and that’s that.

Social media is about building relations and sparking engagement — simply sharing links doesn’t achieve any of that.

There’s no imagination, no creativity, no dialogue — aside from LinkedIn not giving it relevance in its algorithm.

Have you ever seen a link share on LinkedIn that got something you would call attention? Posts like that don’t get past 1 or 2 likes from coworkers or friends.

And yet, the people who do this don’t learn from their mistakes and keep on doing it anyway, like a routine they blindly follow.

Both LinkedIn and its users love native posts that inspire. If you do have a link to share, pair it with a quality piece of text that convinces your reader the link is worth clicking. And post the link in the first comment, not in the post itself. Like Facebook, LinkedIn doesn’t want you to click away from its feed.

There’s a lot of junk on LinkedIn and that’s a huge opportunity. You don’t have to be amazing to gain traction and following. You just have to better than junk — which is something everyone can easily achieve. Share your own story, don’t dump links to someone else’s.

Ben Bradbury, Glisser

I see a lot of people using LinkedIn to drive traffic to their websites only, and posting links to it in their posts. This simply never works! Think about it: From LinkedIn’s perspective, you’re advertising content that would take users off their site. So why would they promote it?

LinkedIn is a great place to build an audience in its own right, and frankly more people will be on here than on your website, so make the most of it. If you have to post links, make sure they’re posted as a comment, and not in the main post.

Vin Clancy, vincentdignan.com

People not attempting to grow aggressively enough- if you only have 300 connections content is pretty much a waste of time.

You need a fast follower/connection growth strategy.

Harsh Jani, Nextures

One of the biggest mistakes I see on LinkedIn is something I myself made for many years. Posting external links as your update. Most important thing for any platform is to keep users on the platform for as long as possible. So, when you post external links, LinkedIn will punish you by not rolling the content out to as many people as possible, as they want people to spend as much time on the platform as possible!

Hailey Friedman, Growth Marketing Pro

One of the biggest mistakes you can make on Linkedin or on any social media channel is spending too much time consuming other people’s content. If you’re looking to generate engagement for yourself or your business, you need to focus your time on creating content, not consuming it. I use tools like this handy Facebook newsfeed eradicator to block my Facebook feed so that I don’t waste time getting distracted.

Manu Goswami, RafikiMedia

The biggest myth about LinkedIn that’s starting to be dispelled is that it’s a platform to just find a job or serve as a substitute for a resume. One of the biggest mistakes I’m starting to see on the platform is content creators who are so focused on views and likes. LinkedIn is about growing your brand and business but that isn’t just done by posting viral content. It’s actually done a lot better by genuinely helping people by connecting them to each other, finding them positions, or including them in stimulating discussions.

Your Next Step

Making mistakes is part of business. You can’t learn if you don’t make mistakes and fail.

Now that you have seen the possible mistakes you’re making, it’s time to change.

Flip around what you’ve been doing on LinkedIn… and watch your results skyrocket.

Using Social Media For Business

using social media for your business

Using Social Media For Business

It seems strange that there was ever a time that we weren’t using social media for business. Social media is no longer an option and every business should be using social media for their business.

Using Social Media For Business Successfully

Here are some sure fire ways on how you can use social media for your business in an effective way.

Regular Content for social media

Whichever social media platforms you decide to use for your business, be sure you’re posting great content and Regularly. You may be absolutely fed up with the word ‘consistency’ but i’m afraid it’s a word you’ll see a lot of in the business world. Using social media the right way is a bit of a skill, so let’s get it right.

Which platform are you going to hang out on?

Have you decided where you’re going to be hanging out online? Will it be Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? etc etc… The list can go on. My suggestion – choose two platforms and get really good at those, then start exploring other platforms. I never recommend being on all platforms and spreading yourself too thinly and then not having the time to put great content out there consistently on every platform. How are you using social media now? Something to think about.

Time block for success

Pretty much my biggest success is time blocking. I time block an hour for content creation, half an hour for posting and interacting on social media, half an hour for email lists etc. This works brilliantly and helps me stay productive and i work less hours from time blocking.

To Do lists

Get used to To Do lists, they are a life saver. It’s a good idea to do a list the day before of what you want to achieve the day before. This way, when you wake up, you know exactly what you are doing and can crack on. On the days i haven’t woken up to a ready and waiting list, i spend at least an hour writing a list, then don’t feel so productive. Make using social media for your business easy and efficient.

I’m a pen to paper girl and I have my list sat in front of me on my desk and tick off when i have completed a task. Find what works for you.

I do hope these social media tips will help you get better at working using social media and start making you more money.

Lady Boss, Girl Boss, Call it What You Like

lady boss

Lady Boss

Lady boss, girl boss, call it what you want, women who own their own businesses rock and then the mums out there opening up their own businesses to be able to be at home for their children is simply amazing! Yep, i am one of those amazing women and Yes, i will blow my own trumpet. I am a single mum and built my first business with 2 babies in tow, not only that, i built is to turn over 5 figures a month! Oh… and as a single mum too. So yeah, i’m pretty proud of myself.

So what exactly is a lady boss?

Ok, not many women like the terms girl boss, lady boss or mumpreneur (momprenuer if you’re reading from the USA) But i personally don’t see the problem. I don’t see any of these as a negative label, so what’s the big deal?!

A lady boss is a female entrepreneur or freelancer who works her arse off on her own terms, She works from home or rents an office space, she works her own hours. Hurdles don’t keep her down, in fact, you might go as far as to say they only make her stronger. She’ll bounce right over a hurdle and carry on. She falls, but never stays down for long, if at all.

Most of us lady bosses don’t have a safety net, but that won’t stop us. lady boss

We don’t ask for permission and we don’t dwell on what others think or think we have to conform to society or the mums in the play ground (and they can be real bitches i tell ya!)

A lady bosses mindset

A lady boss defines her own destiny and we build our own empire bad on our terms, our beliefs and desires. We create our own luck, we don’t sit and wait for it to fall into our laps. One thing we don’t do is whine about every little thing, we just get on with it. We are the ultimate DO’ERS.

I’m proud to be strong woman, bringing up her kids on her own terms and working the hours I want and not hours or tasks that someone else sets me. I respect myself, my business and other peoples businesses.

Be proud to be a lady boss and keep on killin’ it!

How to sell on Facebook and Optimise your Page

how to sell on Facebook

How To Sell On Facebook

The million dollar question ‘How to sell on Facebook’? Not really. Learning how to to sell on Facebook isn’t that hard. My previous Page made me a ton of money. Granted, it’s harder these days, but it can still be done.

Wondering how to increase product sales without investing in Facebook ads? Let’s walk through it. First i want to run through some basics with you.

#1: Choose the Right Facebook Page Type and Category

Naturally every business is different and how you optimise your Facebook Page to sell matters.

For example, a consultant needs people to book appointments, a restaurant or hair dressers wants to drive customers to their physical location, and an ecommerce business sells products online.

Facebook has pre-made page templates to help you promote your products most effectively. To find these templates, go to Settings and click Edit Page on the left of your Facebook Page.

#2: Select that all important Call To Action Button

Your page’s Call to Action (CTA) button sets the stage for the main action you want users to carry out whilst on your page. Do you want them to shop your products or call you to book an appointment? Choose the best CTA button for your business. I want mine to visit my website, so that’s the link i put in my Call To Action Button. here is a great example of a call To Action button:

using call to action button on Facebook

Here is a big one and one you’ll want to read over and over:

#3: Set Up a Shop Section

If you want to sell products more directly from Facebook, setting up a Shop section (if applicable to your business) this is the best way to do it. You can of course put links in your posts to direct people to your website, but unfortunately Facebook doesn’t show posts with links in them to as many people. It sucks i know! That’s why you need to find a way around it and why i am writing this blog post.

Here’s how to get started:

Go to the Shop tab to create your Facebook storefront. First, agree to the Merchant Terms and Policies. Super important and always stick to Facebook rules, you don’t want to lose this amazing selling platform.

Next, choose your checkout method. You can choose from two options: allow people to purchase from you through Facebook or by navigating to your site when they click on a product. For this example, I’ll illustrate the latter.

selling on Facebook

Then you start to fill in all your product details, pricing and so forth. I don’t need to walk you through that, it’s self explanatory.

So have you learnt how to sell on Facebook?

Have you picked up some nuggets on how to sell on Facebook through taking the time to read through this? I know it’s time consuming to sit and read blog posts and some of them are really crap, but i try and give value with all my posts. If you have any questions, pop over to my Facebook Group and join my community over there.

Commitment to Social Media in Your Business

commitment to social media

Commitment to Social Media

Commitment to success is pretty standard for most business owners. But how about your social media?

However, how is your commitment to social media looking ? Pretty high Or are you going to give up within 6 months?

I get it, social media isn’t what it used to be and let me tell you, it ain’t gonna get much better or any easier. So what are you going to do about it? Sit and cry or put big your big girl panties on and just get on with it? As a business owner you have to get used to the pitfalls of running your own business. So stand up, brush yourself down and let’s get committed to making social media work for your business.

Your commitment to social media

Let’s get you committed. Not literally, but lets pledge your commitment to social media today. I want you to stop faffing around and commit to posting on 2 social media platforms. Which 2 will you choose and remember, where is your audience?

What are you willing to commit to? For myself it’s different. I post on my clients social media platforms dependant on what they pay me to do. For my own, i post several times a day. On Facebook at least 3 times a day, on twitter at least 10 times a day and Instagram at least twice a day (but usually more.)

Devising a plan

Ok so you’re commitment to social media is now at an all time high. Now let’s devise a plan. Decide which platforms you’re going to use and when you’re going to post on those platforms. Remember, there is no right or wrong answer here, this is Your plan and knowing your limits. plan your commitment to social media

Once a month or week (i prefer weekly) sit down and get some content ready. Good content is essential, not just an image with 2-3 words. Great content along with great images will get you a long way on social media. Therefore you must be showing as giving value.

I’d love to hear below which 2 platforms you have chosen and how often will you post on them.

30 Day Social Media Challenge

social media challenge

Social Media Challenge

A 30 day social media challenge that is going to change your perspective on how you do social media and show just how many more people you can reach using social media.

Social media is about consistency, perservernce and a little elbow grease to make it work. I know it’s not easy and i know for some it’s a bit time consuming. BUT i am going to change the way you look at social media with this social media challenge starting in September.

How will the social media challenge work?

The social media challenge will take part within a Facebook Group. If you’re not on Facebook… well… i can’t see how you’re in business online. So, you’ll be put in a Facebook group just before the challenge begins and once payment has been made. The cost? A mere £47! Now some have told me that’s too cheap. Maybe it is. However, i wanted to make this affordable for new businesses and those that haven’t quite got to grip with how social media works. So i wanted it to cost no more than say ‘dinner and drinks out’

If you think £47 is too expensive, i’d like you to take a step back and ask yourself Why are you in business? If you can’t invest this small amount, my fear is you simply won’t be successful. I have businesses that invest £100’s in me monthly to help their businesses grow and to keep their social media running and current. Those are the serious businesses.

Now i’m not saying you’re not serious, but you are being a tight arse if you won’t invest this. Drop 2 take aways and invest in this instead. Your business needs this.

What will you achieve through this challenge?

This social media challenge is not only going to grow your numbers on social media, but you’ll get more eyes on your business and social media platforms. You’re going to engage with these new people and build relationships. New relationships on social media take anything from 2-6 months to form properly and only then do you stand a chance of earning any money from these relationships.

Social media is a constant ongoing thing that you CANNOT pick up and drop when you feel like this. This right here is why people pay me what they pay me.

Who’s game???? Find me on Facebook Here and let’s connect. Send me a message on messenger and let’s you get you set up. Know anyone else that might be interested in this or needs it? Give them my details.

We’re going to end this year on a high!

5 Blogging Techniques To Master Blogging

5 Blogging Techniques

Ever woken up and thought ‘shit a blog is due out in half an hour’ and you haven’t done it? I’m guessing most of us have been there a some point. That’s why having these blogging techniques is going to help.

If you wake up with that deadline and aren’t able to use these blogging techniques, don’t try and write that blog post in half an hour, simply delay it. What I mean here is that writing a blog post for the sake of getting a post done is NOT a reason to blog. Trust me…your readers will feel it!

Each post must have a purpose beyond “filler content”.

Use these 5 key blogging techniques so that you never have to write a blog post for the sake of checking it off your “to do” list ever again.

1. Have a Defined Topic

It’s important that you know what your blog post will be about before you start writing it. You want to give your audience great content. Remember, this is about them, not you. It’s about providing value.

2. Spend Time on Your Title – It’s Massive!

The title of your blog post is what is going to be showing up EVERYWHERE! It’s the first touch point that prospective readers will see, so make it a good ‘un.

If it doesn’t grab their attention in a few seconds, you’ve basically failed. So don’t whip it out of thin air last minute, or wait until the very end and then write something random.

3. Your Opening Line

Your opening line, that first sentence is crucial. If you haven’t got them hooked within seconds, they won’t hang around to read more. You’ve got them on your blog, now you need to keep them there!

Your title and first sentence will make or break or post. A good visual will help too. Right at the top, grabbing peoples eye.

Why?  With the internet so saturated and schedules so full, you have 3-7 seconds to hook your reader so well that they choose to stay instead of doing something else. They will make their mind up that quickly.

4. Make it Easy to Read and Share

It’s so important that your posts are easy to read AND easy to share, so that your message can be spread far and wide via social media. Have share buttons on the bottom of each of your posts or a floating side bar.

5. Read It Out Loud

Yep, read it out loud to yourself and see how it sounds. If you think it sounds crap, so will your audience. If there are sentences or paragraphs that don’t flow, fix them! Simples.

Make sure there is a graphic or 2 in there that catches peoples eye. If you’re rubbish at creating them, get a graphic designer to create your next 10 blogging banners for you. Or ask me.

Lastly, reading out loud is a great way to catch any pesky typos or grammatical errors before you hit the “publish” button.

Whether you are a seasonal blogger or just starting out, or maybe you just needed a kick up the behind, these tips will get you well on your way to blogging regularly and effectively.

If you’re already blogging regularly, which one of the blogging techniques above do you think is the most crucial? Please comment below.

Social Media Tasks – 5 Ways to make it Simpler.

social media tasks

Social Media Tasks

Social media tasks can be time consuming, but here are 5 ways to make it simpler for you. There are only so many hours in a day and making the most of our time is crucial to growing our businesses, right? Social media platforms can make a huge positive impact on your business, yet many out there struggle with overwhelm from it.

This blog post shares 5 golden nuggets on how to best spend your time using social media for your business.

  1. Which social platforms are you going to use?

You can’t be on them all, so figure out which social media platforms you want to be on (and find out where your audience is) Some questions to ask yourself are: Which platforms are people engaging with you the most? Where do you get the most visits to your website from?

2. Stick to a schedule or time block

Time management is my thing, i am amazing at it and I help clients manage their time better too. Time management is super important to any entrepreneur or freelancer. When you set time aside to manage your social media tasks, a lot gets done! So i regularly time block now and i work less hours because of it. Pick a days and times that you want to set aside for your social media tasks and stick to it.

Create a daily to-do list of social media tasks

Lists, lists and more lists. As if you haven’t got enough social media tasks and blogging to be getting on with right? I like lists and i like ticking them off. This week i have set aside Monday, Wednesday and Friday for my social media tasks, for scheduling mine and my clients posts. Then every day i set aside time to do the following:

  • Respond to comments
  • Comment on other peoples posts
  • Network online and engage in communities
  • Like all comments on my social media platforms

Make your time count and ENGAGE a ton!

Allocating time for building relationships SHOULD be part of your time allocated for your social media tasks. Notice above i put Network online and engage in communities? That’s what i’m talking about!

Yes it’s true, it means you actually have to talk to people 🙂 But it’s all online, so it’s super easy and can be done in your own time that suits you. See the word social? That’s why we have to engage.

I pretty much respond to every message, retweet and comment because those people are helping grow my business and getting it exposure. Yes i miss the odd one, we’re only human after all. BUT i do make time to do this, it’s so important.

Use tools to help with your social media tasks!

Ahhhhh tools, aren’t they great? So i keep it simple and use hootsuite to schedule posts. There isn’t enough time in my day (or yours) to be posting live every hour. Not to mention posting when you are sleeping to reach a bigger world wide. Let a scheduling tool do the work for you whilst you’re asleep.

Using tools will help grow your business and save you a ton of time. If you need any more recommendations, find me on Facebook Here.

Hopefully these 5 tips will help you better manage and your daily social media tasks better in order to get the most out of your time.

Which tip/tips spoke to you the most? Let me know in the comments. Or add your own tips related to social media tasks.

Investing in your Business and why you should.

investing in your business

Investing in your Business

Why i think investing in your business is crucial. Because i have done it myself and once upon a time i tried to do it all myself too.

Social media is a beast and a beast that changes regularly. You need to be on it all the time (7 days a week) and know your shit. If you don’t, that’s when you need professional help and it’s time to invest in your business. I basically fudged it for over two years in my previous business. All I was doing was reading free blog posts, fudging it on Facebook all the time. I had zero strategy. What the hell was strategy after all?

When I finally invested … I think my first mentor cost me …  was £7,000. I shit myself. I’m thinking, “There is no way I’m gonna be able to do this.” I remember putting a lot of it on a credit card. Let me tell you this though, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Within two or three months, I was doubling my income. Within 18 months, I was making five figures a month. I was turning over five figures a month!! I was blown away by what a professional mentor can do for you.

When you need to invest in your business.

I also got approached a few weeks ago being asked, “Can we swap services?” Now, what this lady had to offer wasn’t anything that I needed, but she wanted my expertise. Now like I said, Facebook isn’t a quick fix. It’s a lot of  strategies and a lot of learning.

I tried to explain this to her, but i wasn’t getting through and in the end we parted ways and no services were swapped. She is still fudging it by the way…. This is why investing in your business is crucial.

How can I help your business?

So have you got your one focus this month? I’d like you to pick one focus for this month or next month, something that you really want to achieve and you haven’t gotten round to it. Or you come upon a stumbling block, and you find any excuse not to do that thing, well that is gonna change. We are going to achieve that one thing, okay?
I usually charge £350 for this, but if you happen to stumble across this blog, i want to give you this for just £199 for the month. By taking that leap with me and investing in your business, i will walk you through it all holding your hand.

Instead of having a structured call, we’re going to dive straight in and talk mindset and strategy. I’m just gonna let you have me for an hour, not just one either, but 3! You can ask me anything you want in business. Anything that you are struggling with, I’m all ears and I’ll give you the answers, and we will work through it. I will also be available on messenger for you and i will keep you motivated and accountable.

You can Upgrade

Now, you also have the opportunity to upgrade. You can upgrade and pay £350 and i will let you have a second month for just £150! That’s huge right there. That is what I’m offering you. I currently pay somebody £500 a month to have that service, but I want to do this for you because I know that you’re a small business, and I know how tough it is when you’re starting out, okay? However, investing in your business is the only way (i have found) to make it grow. Or maybe you’d prefer just a one hour with me? But this offer is far better than just one hour.

So I’ve got a whole list of what I’m gonna help you with here, but you need to get in touch with me if you want to book this. Now I know what it’s like to juggle a million things. As a woman, I’m already juggling a million things. As a single mom, I am, but also as business woman. I’m just adding even more shit to my list. I’ve got my focus. What’s your focus going to be and how can I help you?

I want to help you earn more money.

Have a think about it and let me know that you want to take me up on this offer, get yourself paid up, and get your first call scheduled in. I can’t wait to work with you. I’m so excited to hear how I can help you, and what your one thing is that you want to achieve this month, and we’re going to make sure that you achieve it. I WANT TO HELP YOU EARN MORE MONEY. As a woman who’s sole income feeds my children and pays the bills, i want to see more women being able to do that. Even if you’re happily married, i want to see you earning and contributing to your family income Because you Can. Investing in your business is the smartest business choice you’ll make.

How do you start? Drop me an email to my personal email with the heading ‘Coaching Offer’ and i will get right back to you within 24 hours and we will get set up. Here is the email: sonya.kolodziejska@gmail.com

Don’t forget to let me know what you’d like help with and when you’d like to get started. This offer is valid for anyone who comes across it, even if you read this blog 2 years down the line.
